Being a psychologist, your story time about your former friend actually makes a lot of sense to me. Trauma- particularly early trauma, which I suspect she probably had- creates relationship dynamics that are subconscious and sometimes outwardly make very little “sense.” If I had to completely guess without knowing anything about her life I’d guess she had very early sexual trauma and so behaving as though “nothing happened” and wanting to be around or not caring if you’re around your perpetrator is something that is common for young children. They are assaulted and then continued to be cared for or trusted with their perpetrator. There is a level of dissociation. I suspect he did attempt to assault her and you witnessed her uninhibited response to that- maybe her intoxicated response- which was more authentic to how she actually felt. Once she had sobered up and slept on it, she went back to her “stuff it all down” response. She may have even felt guilt for getting upset w him and running out the night before and so invited him to the event to get back in his good graces. Early trauma wires the brain in ways that don’t align with “logical” responses to pain. They are adaptive at the time and keep us alive but often become maladaptive. I wish her well because that cycle of behavior probably means she is in a lot of pain ❤

I think Jeezy’s “My President is Black” put a stamp on Obama being black for black folks, and only a small amount questioned it. Whereas with Kamala, its a lot more uproar over it. Honestly, I dont see either one as “Black” in the proper sense of Black American. But they are both African American. I think there are nuances to how we see each other and we’re not going to all be on the same page. With that said, I don’t care if she is or not to even discuss it as a topic of this presidential race.

preference is the superficial aspect of dating that only involves attraction. 50% of people have insecure attachment styles and that is going to be the driving force of any unhealthy dynamic preference or not. With regards to Kamala some people dont like what has been happening under the biden/harris administration. Some people dont agree with the mass migration that is happening or how these migrants are getting more care than veterens. Or that they stopped doing dna testing to make sure its real families coming through and not child trafficking. Theres fingers to blame on both sides and in my opinion most politicians are evil. But there are different issues that may sway a person one way or another and it may just be about choosing the lesser evil in their eyes.

Jesse, I HAVE TO comment on your question of "Was I Wrong To Judge Her?" NO. Emphatically, you were NOT wrong. Judgement keeps us safe. Judgement is how human beings have navigated and survived for thousands of years. When you get something nasty out of the fridge and you get rid of it because it smells off, that's judgement. When you choose not to cross the road because cars are moving way to quick despite having right of way, that's judgement. You didn't take an objective, scientific measure of the speed of deceleration of oncoming traffic. You didn't conduct a scientific evaluation of a sample of the funky flakes. You JUDGED and then you made decisions based on that judgement. And that's what you're SUPPOSED to do. Let's say the girl DIDN'T lie to you. That means she brought a CONFIRMED predator into a space with her friends and exposed them to his behaviour and depravity. She put you at risk! And she happily put herself at risk too (all psychology of victimhood, trauma responses and common sense notwithstanding). You're SUPPOSED to judge someone like that. They are dangerous, wreckless and if they're not slightly delusional then they are VERY selfish. Even if nothing happens to you, your nervous system would have been shot the entire time worrying about if he was going to put something in YOUR drink, abduct YOU, if he was aware that you knew and might try to intimidate you or retaliate against you for fetching her. JUDGE HER. But let's say this was one of those rare instances where someone lies about being SAd. Let's say he DIDN'T do what she claimed and she was playing some silly game to excite his interest by running off but didn't want to tell you that so she made this whole thing up. Think about that. That's a person you don't know and wouldn't vouch for. If this had escalated, if you had pushed for the police to be involved, you would no doubt have stood by your friend and testified to his pushiness the night before. Pushiness isn't a crime, but in the context of an alleged SA it can be circumstantial testimonial evidence! Consider what she might have made you participate in doing to another human being! Now extend that to yourself...if she was lying, she was just as much of a risk to YOUR reputation. Nobody sane casually accuses people of crimes they didn't commit. So this is someone who would have thrown YOU under the bus, lied on YOU, told people tales about YOU that made you look monstrous while keekeeing and smiling in your face like she did to that man! I personally don't think there's anything wrong with Judgement. Judgement is a natural, God-given tool for survival. Judgement is what makes us safe and helps us navigate this crazy world. Don't you EVER beat yourself up for judging a person who, whether the accusations were true or not, was a risk to your safety, sanity and reputation EITHER way. Your discernment was telling you something at that point already and that's all you needed to know.

The story that Jessie shared is something that I’ve experienced with someone I went to high school with. We had gotten done with school and had holiday jobs. A few days in instead of taking a cab back home, she got someone to come get us and take us home, we get in, and leave, along the way, the guy starts asking her questions about something that upset him, that involved other people or someone he didn’t approve her being with, he started slapping her around, one hand on the steering wheel, myself and his younger sister I believe are in the backseat, she is trying to laugh it off and blocking his attacks with her hands, he was really pissed. I didn’t know what to do cos her reaction isn’t that if trying to make him understand, and saving face cos I’m seeing this, I’m upset at why she’s smiling or being apologetic with him, I want to stop this but we are on the road and I don’t know him enough to try and predict if he’d get us into an accident, so I pray that we get where I can get off and be done, and we do, I step off, he is nice to me and says good bye and stuff. I don’t look back and went home really upset. The next day, I didn’t know what to say but I thought maybe she’d wanna talk it out or something, explain what happened, none of that happened, we never talked about it, if anything, a few days in, she had him as a DP on her WhatsApp, that really set me off and made me not want to be close with her anymore, I felt she was meeting herself done and accepting bad treatment. A few years later we’d go to an event and she had all these friends with her that I didn’t know were going to be there with us, but we went and as time went on, she started a fight with one of those friends of hers, a guy, he hit her back and they were seriously fighting, it reminded me of the first incident and I just told myself I will not be around her anymore cos it’s now a pattern.
