Ultimately I think he did the right thing not stringing her along after seeing the extent of her worry, but Jess's concern was totally reasonable. A 1 on 1 doesn't just mean you're going on a fancy date. Getting one means the lead is into you and not having one by this point puts you at risk. It just wasn't meant to be between them and their lives will go on all the same.

Ah maybe because he was receiving aspersions from her for doing something innocently wrong? Not only did Jess sit in the background and not engage with Zach during the group date, he still had immense feelings for her that she disregarded over her own feelings about not receiving a one on one date. Any relationship of which one party gets mad at the other for failing to do one thing is never going to last. Jess has to work on her insecurity and learn to bend.

People are coming for Jess and calling her “insecure” when anyone in their right mind would be questioning their relationship with Zach if chosen last. @@SuzetteBaginski i agree that it is contradictory. but You can’t really blame him for sending home all of the girls except one at the end. that’s how it works. he most likely has had his eye on one or two girls for the win already. nothing against any of the other girls, from his standpoint, they just aren’t his focus. it is hard to watch his elimination methods tho. all the girls are so sweet & he seems quite cold. but that is a blessing because it makes him much easier to get over. better for them to not have too much emotional turmoil over him afterward.

Yes it may have made someone feel a bit 'put upon' if they don't feel like they should have to be responsible for someone's emotional needs at this stage, but where is the natural empathy and sympathy for her feelings? I think Zach likes to have things more on the surface, doesn't like dealing with 'hard stuff'... so he will pick a woman at the end who is easy-going, agreeable, etc, not too much emotional challenge. He's a simple guy in that respect, and so sends woman home when he can't handle their emotions, their maybe deeper sense of things and reality. That said, Jess certainly set herself up to be sent home, by saying she won't fight for a man !? That's not a winning attitude! Lastly, I have to say, SOMEBODY has to have the last 1 on 1... maybe thats not such a bad thing, Ariel took it very well having an almost last 1 on 1. Zach's choice of 1 on 1 order may not have anything to do with level of interest (i.e. taking the stronger attraction ladies before those he feels less strong about) in fact it may be the exact opposite.

Whenever a girl cries and tells him about their feelings and insecurities, Zach doesn't acknowledge it and feels he doesn't want to continue the relationship. It seems that he knows what he wants and needs but he doesn't care about what the other person wants or needs, and that is crucial in a relationship. I've been so hyped to watch him find love but after this conversation with Jess, I can finally see the big red flag from him. I'm so disappointed that it makes me sick to the point where I don't feel like watching this Bachelor season anymore. Zach only wants someone who is fun and easy-going, but he doesn't have the ability to confront the situation when things don't go the way he wants them to. He doesn't want to try to understand why the other person is feeling the way she does and just believes that it's not meant to be. I thought you are better than that, Zach!

This guy is the type of guy who runs at the first sign of trouble. He doesn't like drama. Well real life and relationships have drama at times and one needs mature coping skills to deal with such situations with their partner. If he can't handle women getting upset then he isn't ready to be in a long term relationship until he matures more emotionally. For some men this doesn't happen until their forties. He is the type who does a bunk from a relationship at the first sign of trouble and moves from one relationship to the next instead of staying and resolving problems. Marriage is hard, it is a full time job, one has to work through problems with their spouse, if he can't don't get married.

Most women don't really think like that. I think you're projecting a male perspective of dating on to her. Romantic rejection is less of an ego issue for us and more of a connection-based thing. EDIT/UPDATE: Ok so I just watched the entire episode and I see how they cut Zach off in this very short clip and it makes him look bad! They should have uploaded the full conversation (not that it would matter to some since our interpretations and comprehension are all different). He was actually trying to understand and listen to her express herself. He was trying to comfort her. His point was that she didn't need to wait for a one-on-one to be vulnerable and open up. He doesn't understand why she is holding back just for that day to arrive. After seeing how their mindsets are different from each other he no longer felt confident about them. That's why at the end he changed his stance about them. No longer aligned. Looks like he got quickly turned off. Weeks gone by and she hasn't opened up. That's too bad she waited. She was busy harping about a one-on-one and that frustrated him. He said there is a no rule that you have to wait until a one-on-one to be vulnerable. Jess is also right about her insecurities because the longer you wait for a one-on-one, most likely his feelings for her aren't that strong. They both have their rights and wrongs. You guys know what? I am so done with Zach. Jess has a valid point about the 1 on 1. I can totally understand her. With that said, Zach is an asshole, tbh. The way he treated Greer in previous episode was not cool. Greer was only trying to connect and relate to him about the covid thing and he snapped at her. Also, its like as soon as the women seek some form of reassurance and validation he turns ice cold. Like he literally within 5 mins said he felt so strong about him and Jess connection and as soon as she expressed needing validation he was like Im not so sure about our connection, this makes me feel anxious or whatever he said Im paraphrasing. Wow I really cannot stand this guy. The ladies that he hasnt picked has dodged a bullet tbh. I can see that he probably has some anger/temper problems. He gets so impatient and frustrated easily.. 100% agree this is a huge red flag. What happens after the show when you get into an argument with your partner (which will 100% happen)? Because so far he’s shown that he will downplay their feelings, making them seem in the wrong, and do a complete 180 on how he views his relationship with that person. Jess has a lot of issues to deal with. I agree with many of the comments that she stood up for herself and Zach doesn’t get it. That being said it looks like wherever she is from, there is no girl as attractive as her, so she gets to call the shots. This probably was the first time she wasn’t the most desired by the guy she wanted. You need to deal with the unfairness of a situation whether it’s relationships or work. The more successful individuals can figure out solutions & not count on playing the victim.

His ability to talk through any kind of conflict is pitiful. He uses women's vulnerabilities and questioning attitudes against them. Time and time again he's reacted to gossip and pettiness from these young girls in this house instead of following his own sense of reason. Jess you will move on you will be fine. Literally just told her he was feeling confident and then a minute later says he isn't feeling confident. 🙄 I know one thing, I don't see anything from this guy that is worth fighting for at all. He's incredibly dull and lacks personality, he constantly sends mixed messages, he doesn't have any real sense of humour to him, and he is not attractive (in my opinion, I know that is very subjective). I was really taken aback when he was talking to Greer and she was simply trying to relate to how he felt about COVID and how it came at the worst possible time and he reacted so defensively to her and invalidated her feelings/thoughts...anyways, I would have sent myself home after Night 1 🤣

Not a guy whose any emotional expert, but if there was any inclination from Dude, that this girl was not one to be left as last for a 1 on 1 (which for any novice who had ever seen the show means the world to any contestant) Jess would not have been a good pic for last. "I had every confidence in us..." wow what is any of the girls missing out on if Dude assumes everyone is cool with something simply because he is. Difference between talking with someone and listening to someone. Then to just kick her off the show because he couldn't deal with her calling him on his sh* - wow. In a day and age when mental health awareness is supposed to be evolved. I didn't really gather where she he said it she has to go? Or if she could have been given a day to simmer and decide if she felt continuing was good for her at this time. Can't help but wonder if TV viewers are privi to the whole conversation. At her expense, it really shows how vein the whole show is to begin with. Now will they (producers) bring her back someday before the season ends to provoke the whole scenario like every other season? Even if Jess is in a place where she needs to build some self confidence - there is a chance the right person would make her feel noticed versus shelved. Men have gone through stuff like this too hey ...

So, Jess was the quiet and mysterious girl in the corner that he was kinda into and wanted the 1-1 for next week. Turns out, while she is 23, she is still a little sheltered teenybopper at heart. That was an epic meltdown and I wanted Jess to go far. Very disappointed after last night but she lost it...and never knew he was actually into her. Maybe, he never thought a 1-1 was necessary...maybe he could have done a better job of saying that but he is limited to what the producers allow him to say.

It's insulting for him to act so clueless about the importance of getting a 1 on 1 date. "What am I missing" he says. DUH!!! Has he not seen the show? Who get the 1 on 1s are the ones they're most interested in (usually). That's why such a big deal is made out of getting one. That's what all the women are praying and fighting for each and every week. And he knows that. Don't act so clueless. Never in the history of the show has a woman got to this point in the show with no 1 on 1 and made it to the final 2 or even final 3. Possibly even final 4 I believe. What would a Bachelor say to the womans family at hometowns? "Oh yes I'm so interested in your daughter for marriage. I just didn't think she was worthy of being asked out on a single date. So no we haven't had even one date yet." How would that fly with the families? Not good.

I think if she went in there more positive knowing that as a duiter her job IS to pursue the Bachelor he would have given her a rose. But she didn't feel confident and that's valid. Jess is a kind soul, but she her insecurity and defensive attitude get the best of her. Not only was Zach patient with her and trying to give her validation by saying that she was on his mind since Day 1 and not to worry about the one on one date (especially since he had to give Charity another chance), Jess would not let it go. Throwing more grievances toward him is not attractive because you never want to be in a relationship where you are chastised for doing something innocently wrong. Jess ruined a potential relationship with Zach, and it appears she was going to even get the rose.
