Jesse, total beast winning on the track & super chill dude! His GoPro vids during practice and the races are mandatory viewing if you follow EWS!

Jesse killed it! On top of the podium where he belongs. Love these bikes checks. Dudes like this just want their bikes to be fast and silent, form over function. You can see the brake pads have little rubber bands to stop the infamous pad rattle. Aluminum rims for feel, cut down bars, grip modification to help with a previous injury, little bits here and there. Very interesting stuff!

definitely a well ridden bike and winning one too! I envy his leg strength though for not going full 51T cassette.

There seems to be something going on around the pads presumably to stop them from rattling? Can anybody elaborate?🙂 I can see some black string at around 2:50.

Every Shimano owner needs a reply to this! Help us out! It kind of looks like 2 orings stretched over the pin.
@drappennen57044 жыл бұрын
saintberry yeah. An o-ring by the looks and I will say my XT pads do seem like they could rattle a bit but I don’t notice cause I don’t get near warp speed and am honestly too busy correcting my line choices every five seconds when I ride 😆

Actually surprised by how banged up the pedals are and how worn up the paint in the cranks is. Thought pros would be changing to new parts so often that that wouldn't be possible.
@santclause14 жыл бұрын
would be a waste of money. 1 or 2 stages and they would look the same. the only way you get your money's worth is to use the bike. What do you want a show pony.
@sm-qw9mj4 жыл бұрын
@@santclause1 I don't understand what you mean by "What do you want a show pony". I didn't specify if my surprise was positive or negative. I obviously do think it's better if the parts are used more and not just thrown away, but in many sports it's common to use new equipment to ensure things are working the way they should. I'm glad to see that isn't the case here.

I'm by no means a pro, but myself, and other people I know, like to wear things in so it doesn't feel brand new and its more comfortable. Pedals for example are something that I feel like you have to ride a couple times to get a good feeling, then you don't need to worry about it
@mrsmartypants_14 жыл бұрын
sm: A “show pony” is an old fashioned term. It kinda means someone who is a show off, someone who brags, something that looks good but the results aren’t as good as expected.
@sm-qw9mj4 жыл бұрын
@@mrsmartypants_1 Yeah I know what show pony means, but didn't understand a) How my comment got that response and b) Did he mean to say "What do you want, a show pony?" or "What you want is a show pony." Either way, it was nice of you to try to clarify that.

@@George1161 Thanks Goerge. I reached out to Jesse he confirmed it was a works component angle set. Did you install yours or a mechanic. Just wondering about the technique to get it lined up correctly on the frame.
@George11614 жыл бұрын
I installed mine myself without a headset press and, full disclosure, it was tough. Took me a few tries. I used my bottom bracket press slightly modified with washers to fit the headset better. I would recommend either getting a proper headset press or having a professional install it.
