He and karl were both fantastic vocalists and made their mark. Gonna miss this band so much.

I was able to catch their denver farewell show after listening to them for 21 years. It was SPIRITUAL! So lucky to see Jesse walking around before the show and got a pic with him. Got to talk to Karl at the end of the show too. Wow. Just wow. I've seen pink Floyd on 3 hits of acid and misery signals stone colf sober was the best show I've ever been to.

Its hard to believe that they are ending this year. So many key moments in my life around this band. I saw Misery Signals first in the early 2000s when they toured with Bury Your Dead and Figure Four. What an epic show that was.

Forgot to mention that The End from Toronto headlined that show

Great podcast Spencer but I wanted to highlight that SPEED is a product of the APAC region slowly growing in popularity. There are tons of bands that have been around for decades that did not get any support from their respective governments to enable alternative music as a form of art/career choice, making it hard to establish record labels/etc to distribute music to the other side of the planet. Nonetheless Asia has a huge hardcore community and been playing since early 1980s when bands like Fugazi, Black Flag and Gorilla Biscuits would tour the region and spark that the fuse that is hardcore into the APAC region. It's cool to see finally after 25 years for me to see bands like Speed and Wormrot from the APAC region make it out of obscurity into a global stage and I do hope more talent from the region gets to do the same in the future. Also growing up in Singapore for me, I managed to discover Misery Signals around the same time the rest of the world did even through records were hard to get so we'd get records about 2-3 months after the initial releases but we still did listen to a ton of the same bands from the US/UK/Europe in the 1990s - early 2000s. Anyways, I figured I could leave a list bands for you to listen to that are from the APAC (Asia Pacific) region who are semi popular to the more obscure bands that are killing it now to give you an introduction to the talent from the region. Also here are some of the region abbreviations: SK - South Korea JPN - Japan HK - Hong Kong SG - Singapore IN - Indonesia MY - Malaysia TH - Thailand VT - Vietnam 1980s, 1990s - 2000s era FC Five (Jpn, been around since early 2000s has guest features with bands like Bane, Madball etc) Envy (Jpn, been around since early 2000s) The Geeks (SK, early to mid 2000s) King Lychee (SK, late 1990s - now) Stompin Ground (SG, late 1980s-1990s) More recently formed bands (2010-now): Sand (from Jpn) Kruelty (from Jpn) Numb ( from Jpn) Crystal Lake (from Jpn) Rise of the Northstar (kinda Jpn, they are french by nationality but moved to Jpn and perform in Japanese so kinda) Slant (From SK) Traitor (From SK) End these Days (from SK) Yau Dong (HK) CharmCharmChu (HK) Fight Club (HK) Dagger (HK) Overthrown (SG) Recover (SG) SIAL (SG) Wormrot (SG) Fuse (SG) HRVST(SG) Triangle (MY) Check Your Head (MY) Moneybag1327 (MY) District 105 (VT) Whispers (TH) Annalynn (TH) Feel the Burn (IN) True Value (IN) No Wasted (IN)
