Are These New Tenpai Cards Tier 1?!

I noticed this card wasn't in the decklist, but i've seen a lot of tenpai decks play odd-eyes meteorburst dragon. It's a generic 7 fire-dragon synchro that has says "your opponent's monsters cannot activate their effects during the battlephase". It's similar to the level 10 synchro, but as it's level 7 it's fairly easy to get this out before you go into the battle phase, and in most modern matchups this will achieve basically the same effect as the level 10 in terms of blocking your opponent's interactions. Going into this is a lot easier before the battlephase and can be a really effective board breaker in a lot of cases.

Same with Samurai Destroyer. It helps the Yubel matchup by both negating the burn and also preventing the float effects (from Yubels + Throne) so you can safely OTK with the rest while they can't super poly it away because it will just come back (unless under shifter).

Shifter is great in this deck. Yes, you can’t put up 34,000 points of damage, but you can still comfortably OTK while most decks still pass turn.

One thing I like to do is actually summon Black-Winded Dragon off Tzolkien and then to link it and a level 3 off for seals. This does 2 things: You get to summon Black-Winged Assault Dragon by banishing the BW Dragon and Bident Dragion from the grave and it leaves Tzolkien on the board. On your opponents turn you can use Seals to summon Baidore from the deck, which will activate and let you set a spell, triggering Tzolkien again.

one minor point, you mentioned which dragon effect to synchro you used during your combo demonstration, however the quick effect synchro summon is a soft once per turn. just making sure everyone has clarity about that.

So cool they could QUARTER the damage they deal and still easily kill. Very fun deck to be added to a format where going second means you could easily lose. Go 1st (Tenpai) = Lose and Go 2nd (Snake-Eye) = Lose. Great.

The tenpai dragons have hard OPT with their unique effects (white searches, green summons from gy, and red summons from deck). Their non OPT are the synchro summon effects.

Im a big advocate of Desires over Prosperity. It gives you +1 to discard with field spell or with droplet (will be good tech next format), also the potential to give you handtraps or board breakers like raigeki, harpie, droplet, lightning storm etc to clear the board and otk. Under Prosperity, its harder to OTK because most times your opponent won’t have an empty board in real life. They might have handtraps, backrow and some bodies on board and only doing half damage for that turn, you may not be able to otk. Especially under shifter as you don’t have access to grave for extra bodies to summon back. Also, if you are not playing the link package in the extra deck, try super poly as you have the space, and if White Woods becomes meta relevant in the future, Supreme Arcanite Magician is a good answer to them.

Basically this one got rarity axed so everything else is low rare. People like complaining about Rarity Distribution in AGOV but i really wasnt bad. Snakeeye 1 SCR and 2 UR rest Super and below Horus 2 Scr 1 UR rest Super and below Zharc i dont even remembee if there was anything aside from the UR T.G was the one that got arguably the worst one shaft by konami in terms of viability 2 SCR 1 UR rest low rare but kinda mid Sinful Spoils 2 SCR but thats nothing new, Albaz was the literal same. Do i like that all the shit i was lookin for (Ashened) is lowrare? Hell yea Low rare Tenpai is also a blessing since i own a Trident Dragion due to Edison. But Rarity *Distribution* is really not good in this Set. Its all clumped in 1 Spot. Feels very Chaos Impact and RIRA with Marincess and Unchained back then. Unchained got shafted so hard with 4 SCR and not even bringin the heat as a rogue contender.

I think if you get the field spell the deck has a chance but if you just open Baidora or Zhongdora it'll get negated and the deck won't do crap. When we get Genroku I can see it but before then its rouge. Think about it Magical Musketeer once had the same issue before Fiendsmith. The deck either has to open Manor or it has to open Kaimen and still needs a monster on top of it. its not realistic.

@@rovad55 Not if you don't already have Kaimen. Magical Musketers once had a similar issue. The validity of their plays count on having a extender or opening Kaimen plus a Tenpai. The point is you can't say that you'll get there running Kaimen as your only extender. Why they didn't make Baidora a extender like Shavara is beyond my understanding the deck isn't as resilient as Unchained. They took the deck and made it unplayable right out of the gate. Then they made Genroku so that people could maybe play it without turning it into a dragon link deck.

Really getting sick of this “play 8-10 main deck in-archetype monsters and a few in-archetype spells and then the other 70% of the deck is non engine aka handtraps” design philosophy that Konami is embracing lately. I personally think deck engines should take up more space, but the reason they don’t is because Konami simply doesn’t design enough PLAYABLE in-archetype cards. It seems like whenever an archetype is designed, half of the cards are DOA trash, and the other half make the entire deck functional. There should be MORE in-archetype cards overall, and they should ALL be relevant to the overall strategy of the deck to some degree. More extenders for decks is a better design direction for gameplay imo, and would also solve the problem with these stupid game states where you open 4 handtraps and your 1 card combo starter but your opponent also opened 4 handtraps and their 1card combo starter and you’re just passing back and forth until you open enough 1 card starters to exhaust your opponents other handtraps and ftk your opponent. The shit is not fun at all. I personally would gladly trade a ton of power cards and hand traps getting hit and even a bunch of the staple extra deck boss monsters being hit on the list in exchange for more extenders for everybody. Lower the ceiling and raise the amount of decisions you can make.

I'd like to point out that the field spell is not limited to be activated once per turn. So you could possibly activate several of them in one turn in case it gets destroyed or banished. You could also double the attack of a second dragon in battle phase.

You can play it at one. In this deck you can use it with Gold Sarc and banish it, trigger Blaster’s effect to search a fire monster to get your Baidora or whatever. He even mentions it quickly in the video

This deck will take a very good pilot to win going first and post siding. Hopefully it is cheap because I am that pilot lol. This deck is super frail. I think the d link build is terrible. That quick play is the only reason why that build is good. It is literally an Instant fusion and an Impermanence in one card. I can not wait until we get that card. Personally, I do not really know where this deck stands. I think us as players have not unlocked its full potential and a part of me thinks the deck is good. Then another part of me think it is tier 2 ish because it takes way too many cards to play going first and going second Prosperity and Desires forfeit to Droll which conviently does just enough damage against fk snake eye and pure to render it a main deck option. Snake eye is still beat deck. You really want to hand draw the field spell and especially the quick play. This deck will struggle with breaking boards. It takes one crimson blader or a card that can't die by battle to get another turn. Not to mention if it gets that cracked people can find a way to end battle with wobaku or roar or cards like the black goat which is nuts against this deck. I think this deck. I think the strongest thing about this deck is Shifter but the problem with that is hand traps are an issue. This deck struggles to win with anything that is not constricted to its own engine. Which is why non engine has to carry it albiet that be a Tracer package for Savage dragon or 100 million hand traps plus talents/Thrust. That is huge. Going first I think cards like Shifter and fissure and rivalry are what it needs. The problem with this deck (unlike snake eyes) is it relies on certain situations and a lot of situational play like if I make my board and they have a lightning storm to out rivalry I can loose. Vs snake eyes I am NEVER loosing to a lightning storm after hand traps are involved. This deck has no real follow up at all. It's follow up is a card in grave and a spell card to do the same thing which isn't good of my opponent puts up real negates. Snake eye may be a better match up for this deck because everything it does constitutes to monsters that are trading with each other and appoloussa plays become risky. This deck will auto loose to a lot of rogue battles. Crimson blader infernoble is a problem. Dragon link is a problem. Mannadium is a problem. Snake eye if it opens exodia is a situation you can never win. (Don't see this deck playing through the full fire king board and 3 hand traps that have real value) ogre is cracked against this deck is right spots. What makes this deck GOOD is in damage step you can not win. You can never nibiru it, and I need rulings on its quick play or need to re read the card but if you can use this in damage step you can not loose because you just completely beat Delta + ash. Even in battle Delta + ash is crucial in you opponent just passes back making you go first. People will be back to play psych games again because I can be against a bad deck I seen a table 8 and tell him to go first and he may think I'm on tenpai and I could be on something else and this could be beneficial. I need to learn more about the deck but if it is not doing 98% of this in damage step this deck will struggle against ash, ogre, Gamma, Delta, Impermanence, veiler, etc. It can not play more than 40 for consistency and it's engine is weirdly printed so it really can't abuse hand traps as well as snake eyes truly can. Seal pass will not be enough. Seal, crystal wing or seal, Savage might be enough but then people will just lava golem you or kaiju you and otk you through 1-2 possibly 3 interruptions. Ash will be this decks most reliable hand trap and nibiru which right now are so easy to play around. Without Maxx c and conservative players. Tier 1.5-2. Will not be better than snake eyes. May balance it because it may have a good match up against it. Right now for me that is a theory I can test the two against each other and watch snake eyes win 7/10 times idk. If the list follows ocg the summon sorc thing could be a thing with d link etc. Maybe give it more options playing first or maybe not. Upstart could also be an option in this deck btw. I mean if it's dealing 38k damage 1000 should never matter. Idk seems low impact to be playing in to Droll. Eh. This deck may actually be playable with a sky striker package (I say this with everything lol) more draw power Thrust and talents plus set cards to where you don't die with seal. Idk lol maybe playable with the lightsworn stuff and dragunity and buster lock idk. But this plus hand traps ain't fully it and I do not believe in that dlink variant with it either. But then again Droplets plus discard everything and play sounds like I win until they have a way to stop me. That is why knowledge of its damage step play is needed that could change everything. This deck will literally die to deck that play traps ong. Like I just pictured this vs set 5. Then again that field spell is cracked. Idk we will see I will play it regardless at worse tier 2 but idk about tier 0 or tier 0.5 by any means snake eyes and especially fire king snake eyes ability to play through so many hand traps is cracked.

A deck with up to 26 non engine slots for handtraps and basically every card in the deck is a 1 card otk. It can run shifter and it's field spell makes it difficult to interact with the deck. Is even stronger now in a format without Baronne and Savage, thereby making going 2nd board breakers being significantly better now.
