4:38 This person says in Japanese, "I broke up with my[partner]whom I had been dating for about 2 and half years, so...". However, it is translated into English as[ex-girlfriend]. I think this is an inappropriate translation since it is impossible to determine the gender of the “partner”, at least from this conversation part. I am a queer Japanese, and I am often frustrated by people assuming that I am heterosexual. Even though I use non-gender specific words like [partner] and [lover] in conversations, people often apply gender binaries/heteronormativity to me.

I really like cyborg Yuki's advice about buying the smaller accessories and then buying larger items and whole fits to go with them for two reasons 1. For someone just getting into an aesthetic, this is going to be an affordable method of starting out. 2. For those with anxiety, wearing smaller things that can be hidden easily if necessary but can still start a conversation can increase the person's confidence in both themselves and their look, leading them to buy bigger items and clothes until they have a whole fit they feel confident and comfortable in.
