so many here miss the point when they try to paint Leon’s reaction to Waylon as either green eyed jealous or slammed drunk..Leon, the master of time & space, was looking on in happy awe & quiet ecstasy at the collection of spirits that were singing & playing together right then/right there/right now.

I have seen Leon Russell three times in my life once in 1970 second time was in 1973 and the last time was in 1994, and one more time was in 9 2013. So it was four times. I have never seen him drunk before. He is definitely three sheets to the wind. But he was with his buddies there, he was just really drunk. And you look at Willie Nelson and he's laughing, because they're just no denying it he was three sheets to the wind. Leon Russell is and will always be the master of space and time.

I worked in the studio with Leon. What a joy! He was auditioning Black Grass for the Carney tour at January Music & Sound in Dallas. All had gone next door for a beer. I had to tear down the studio mics and headsets, rewind the tape and shut down for the night. Leon had stayed behind to sit at the Yamaha Baby Grand to tinker with a tune he'd been working on. With all away except we two, I asked him to please play A Song For You and he did. I was an audience of one. It really brought tears to my eyes. He was so sincere and looked my way as he sang. WOW. Everyone came back, hugged and went home. I cried again when I realized I could have recorded it but had just shut everything down! What a gentleman he was. And what an influence on American Music. Yeah, I wish he would've looked after himself and stayed in shape a bit longer. He was still pretty young. Probably didn't have a proper diet. But I like Leon in every way. Because it's Leon.

@@toastertwo1602 Leon hit the genetic jackpot with his musical talent, but I'm shocked at how fast he aged. This was only 4 years after the Homewood Sessions. He was about 32 in this video, but looks in his 40's.

@jackiesmith2801 Well, his hair and beard are grey for sure, but his face still looks young. But man, his belly. He was definitely a junk food fan.

I saw Willie and Leon in Concert around 78' or so. I'm older than dirt, and still glad to have lived my life back in those days. ✌️

Yeah , me too. Actually I was part of the group that created dirt. We tried to make it without any dust , didn't quite get there. We saw Leon 3 times late '69 and twice in the 70's. The Girls loved him and so did we. About half way thru his 2 hr set he would get up on the piano and dance while Don Preston played the guitar. We were always trippin". Good Times.

@@mikethebike7372 Lucky. I'm not quite that old, but almost. 😊 I've seen Joe Cocker in concert, but I wish I could have seen him and Leon together. I'm glad to have lived that life and time, even if I am old as dirt. ✌️

I was fortunate to see Leon Russell perform along with 7 other popular bands , including Foghat, at OKLAHOMA CITY’s all day/ till midnight concert in 1991. Outdoors and about 95 degrees out😂. No coolers were allowed. Beers, pop, water, etc. had to be purchased on premise. Wow, what a day to never ever forget.✌️

I was lucky enough to interview Willie at his July 4th picnic in 1997. Leon Russell played. Hot jam at the end. Ray Price, too. Both gone. Those nights....magic never to be repeated. As American as blueberry pie with Blue Bell vanilla ice cream on top. Yes,sir....
