I am looking for a class with demonstrations on mosaic knitting; stockinette flat, garter stitch flat, stockinette in the round, and garter stitch in the round. I did enjoy your class on colorwork, especially discussing what yarns are best to use in colorwork and why. Thank you from another busy homeschool mom!❤🧶

Jessica, I am so happy to find a knitting blogger who has her family as her first priority in life. Thank you! Your sweater is beautiful! If I understood you right you suggested that one should always knit a pattern in the original wool, why would that be so important?

She said original weight yarn because having a worsted weight pattern and then using fingering weight yarn instead would give you different results. If you are one who won’t blame the designer for it not turning out and having to frog the project then you do whatever you want to do. But many people complain about the design when they use completely different yarn. That is the person knitting the projects fault not the designer.

Long story short, the sizing gets completely messed up. There is a lot of information that I share in Episode 48, so watch that one for the full answer.

You stated you were buying a sectional. I have had a sectional. You will have a lot of seating that way however it has been my experience people do not like to sit on a sectional. People sit on the ends and the space in the middle is all wasted space. It is better to get a couch a love seat and two chairs if you living room can handle it. Even with a couch people only want to sit on the ends. Couches are nice because people like to lay down. A love seat is great because you can sit and knit and have your things spread out or have a child or two sit with you. Kids often like to sit on a rug on the floor.

Fletching is beautiful! Could you please tell me what gauge is required for the worsted version? I just knit a sweater (non-colorwork) in the Highland at 4 sts/inch on US 9’s and love the fabric and ease of knitting at that gauge in this yarn.

Hi Jessica, I've just popped over to your website to read your blogs etc and pattern info. THANK YOU ! For mentioning the yarn description for Australia & NZ ! Your the first designer I have come across that realises your worldwide customers don't always understand the terms, DK, worsted, fingerings etc. It really gets confusing doesn't it 🤔. So thanks again, I certainly appreciated the additional information. Cheers, Kim 🦘🐨

I'm wanting to start my 1st colorwork sweater. I know this is a good one to start with but I wanted to know if you thought 1 weight was better than the other to start with? Sport or worsted?
@JessicaMcDonaldKnits
@JessicaMcDonaldKnits 9 күн бұрын
Depends on how fast you want it to knit up. Worsted weight will knit up much quicker than the sport. Other than that, the decision comes down to 4 bands of colorwork in the yoke (sport weight version) or 3 bands (worsted weight version.)
