The problem with watching highlight. Looks like Zheng won more point, but more likely her winners come at the cost of too unforced errors.

Specifically, bad highlights. It's totally possible to make highlights that show the story of the match, but the WTA only wants to show winners. How did Pegula win? Who knows? We know that Zheng hit a lot of winners, but she still lost, so what difference did it make? If she made a ton of errors, the highlights should reflect that. I think people would appreciate that more than only the flashy shots.

@@freakytea2815 Because these highlights are created to make the matches look good. If they showed the whole flow of the matches then the subpar quality becomes obvious. Why would any promotional material want to do that?

​@@freakytea2815exactly. Queen Qinwen hit 27 winners only 9 unforced errors, this time last year it looked like she was going upwards quickly but not so.

Highlights typically show the most exciting shots. Sadly the same player who makes those often makes more errors, which don't make it into the highlights, lol.

Zheng has improved on her groundies since FO, not sure if it's due to new coach Wim Fissette. Her serve has improved a lot too, winning 94% of her 1st serve points compared to Pegula's 75%. And she hit 28W/27UEs compared to Pegula's 9W/10UEs, so no question who is dictating play here. Still her movements aren't great. Instead of running around to hit a BH she often ends up hitting an error on the FH. Pegula is looking solid. But as usual she'll run herself ragged by playing singles, doubles and mixed doubles at Wimby and will be out of gas by the 2nd week. 😖

Madison has more power but unfortunately isn’t having a good year. Some really bad health issues, having to miss tournaments. I hope she gets in more matches this week. Not sure why she had to pull out of Birmingham last week.

Pegula reminds me of David Ferrer... and for that reason I can't see her winning a slam. She plays a lot of safe shots down the centre. Swiatek Sabalebka and Rybakina are finishing off points quickly and really stretching the court.

I haven't watched more appearances of Jes Pegula on the grass court. That's why it is very tough to deliver the assertive commentaries about the quality and dynamism of Pegula on the grass surface. Even so it was a lucid outcome which was clinched by professional American competitor in two straight sets.
