Marzipan seems to be very popular over here in Budapest. Which suits me fine as I quite like it. Had some wonderful marzipan liquor the other day that was absolutely lovely

I have a feeling she's been eating gum paste (a.k.a. sugar paste or american paste), which is basically "flavoured" (though generally still pretty flavourless) fondant icing (made with sugar, water, egg whites, and sometimes gelatin), and thinking that's what marzipan is. Real marzipan is just powdered almond and sugar (or honey), tastes nothing like vanilla, and the consistency is not sticky or pasty at all (it's actually quite crumbly). The fact that she mentions using it for cake decoration reinforces this; nearly all "complicated" cake decorations (ex., flowers, figurines, bows, etc.) in the US and UK are made with gum paste. Marzipan is quite hard to work with at ambient temperature, and breaks easily if you try to make thin curved surfaces (which is why it's typically used to make "chunky" things like fruits, pigs, etc.).

@TheConciseStatement Yeah I find that strange as well. I met her last year and she's lovely. Just a nice, normal person, who happens to be partly responsible for my favourite show of all time.

That bloke with the tache sounds like your typical Daily Mail editorial.

@Cokecakepopcorn Yeah, I don't understand that reaction at all. She seems like the least bitchy person ever. Friendly, warm and down to earth is what I always think when she's on.

Can't be doing with marzipan. In it goes. (You can put onions in and all - disgusting things.)

Does anyone know the name of the sitcom she wrote about those two old women? She mentioned it when Jonathan Ross interviewed her but I can't find the footage anywhere to know what name to look up.

We wouldn't have nearly as much with proper sex education, or if the US government hadn't ignored the AIDS epidemic for so long. In both cases, the blame rests very firmly on the backs of religious groups.
