Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn... Two beautiful human beings, made into one stunning entity - their art was as much about their limitless, true love, as it was about their boundless talents. If they were British, they would have also been honoured with Dame/ Knighthoods. How lucky and proud a lady, their daughter, Tandy Cronyn, must feel and be - to have had them both for her parents. I'm watching for a second time 'A Month of Sundays', in which both she and her father star - a brilliant film; charming, humourous and poignant. Thank you, very much, for posting this charming, humourous and poignant award video.

When Ms. Tandy says, "and I'm particularly grateful for the opportunity to step once more upon the stage" ...😭 Thank you both for your splendid performances. ❤

Even while watching this clip, any smart observer could hear and feel the love, admiration, and true sincerity of every person in that theatre given by a standing ovation which this couple has truly earned through the years. I hope their memory and legacy will live on and inspire all future actors.

This was broadcast on June 12, 1994. Jessica Tandy had just turned 85 the week before and died only three months later. Hume lasted almost another nine years and died in 2003.

This would turn out to be Jessica Tandy's final public appearance before she succumbed to cancer which she had been bravely battling for 4 years. Such a trooper she kept on working up until about the end.

Chris Johnson I greatly admired her, among other fine actresses of her generation (Julie Harris, Geraldine Page, Kim Stanley, to cite three). Have you seen her in SEPTEMBER AFFAIR (availabe in KZbin)? She does such wonderful things in a relatively small role. I miss her and other actors of her caliber.

Its a sad commentary that the only clip shown at a lifetime acheivement award for stage work, was from a blockbuster Hollywood film. They worked together in Broadway productions of Foxfire ( later filmed as a movie) The Gin Game ( later televised by Showtime) The Honeys, The Petition, Delicate Balance, In Two Keys, and the Four-poster. Tandy earned 5 Tony nominations including The Rose and the Petition and won 3 for Streetcar in '47, Gin Game in '77, and Foxfire in '82 as well as 2 Drama Desk Awards and an Obie. Cronyn was nominated for 5 Tonys ( Big Fish..., Delicate Balance, Gin Game, The Petition) winning the award in '64 for Hamlet. But there are no clips in existence other than that Showtime 'Gin game.'

Cronyn was a great Polonius opposite Richard Burton's 1964 Hamlet, proving you don't have to be British to be a great Shakespearean actor..:) (It was on youtube the last time i looked)

She knew she didn't have far to go. Painfully thin, the comment of her having the pleasure of being upon a stage again exemplified she would not be returning there again. How sad, she didn't win her best actress Oscar till 1990 and in 4 years, she would be gone.

I didn't realize until I saw the date of this video of 1994 this is when Jessica Tandy was battling cancer of her ovaries and she passed away in September 1994 so in this video you can see that she lost a little weight and her determination to walk up on that stage while she's feeling ill I can't imagine what she felt on that stage of happiness but battling her sickness at the same time. For my understanding her heritage that she was a Jew but for the ones that put their faith in Jesus Christ and faith alone has hope within Jesus Christ for their salvation I must say this because I will not be ashamed of the Gospel or my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because as a Christian a child of God I must have a duty to let everyone know the good news of the Gospel through Jesus Christ to never judge God through Jesus Christ when you don't know who he is or don't know his word because we look around upon this world there's so much evidence that the Lord exists when you look at human DNA and much more and the Lord written in our hearts what is right and wrong and what is good and evil to love our neighbor as ourselves and much more but I know the Lord has many ways to get through people. And I pray that more people get saved every day and more people will know who God is the one and only true God through Jesus Christ God and flesh through his holy spirit that gives us strength and comfort and gives life to the resurrection eternal in heaven.
