I agree with you there, after watching a few of his chats he seemed much too keen on playing up his innocence. But I DO believe him when he said he was fed up with the show since cycle 12 and that he didn't really care after that point. Like, he sounded genuinely pissed off during the cycle 18 live chat when he talked about how toxic Ken Mok and Tyra was behind the scenes. For instance, the producers apparently refused to let Jay direct the models during their photoshoot during the first episode of cycle 16, which made the atmosphere super tense on set. It's only when the tension got unbearably awkward that Tyra told Jay to direct again lol. This isn't to claim that Jay was a perfect mentor or anything. I don't fully believe him when he says that he was totally committed to looking out for the models because I think he was more preoccupied with his own beef with the show, but I don't really blame the guy for that. He seemed apathetic by the end, so I can see how that attitude would spill out towards the models too.

Plus, certain styles of swimwear are more covering/generally designed to give coverage and function vs underwear which is not supposed to be on display for anyone (except significant others, if applicable) And while I haven't watched these episodes, in this particular scenario, the flashback they did of the woman in Swimwear was clearly more coverage and of a very different style (high-waisted, wrap around body, stylized suit) and the underwear they wanted her to crawl in veggies with was a cotton-y looking low cut bottoms and definitely bra top. Just, yikes people, would it kill you to respect these women as actual human beings?
@carneasadafoodcritic80764 жыл бұрын
The difference is in the connotation between the clothes. The activities or feelings you link with when you hear the term lingerie, are vastly different to the word swimsuit. As well, one is meant for public display, the other mostly private. Although there might not be much difference in how the two look, there is a difference in how the two are viewed most of the time. For myself, I wear bikinis in public and feel fine, but the way I feel totally changes if it’s underwear, even if it’s less revealing, just because it is a different situation, if that makes any sense. Like how for me since I do some theatre I have no prob being in my underwear around literally anyone, all genders including the gender I am attracted to if it’s in the situation for it being for a show or the like but if I was in my underwear not in that situation in front of all genders I would feel really umcomfy bc now the connotation has changed for myself

This show was so harmful for the girls who grew up watching this and wanting to be a model or someone in the fashion industry because it pushed the idea that you can't say NO, that your boundaries mean nothing, work is more important than health, and that its okay for men (and some women) to be allowed to say perverted & insensitive things to you just because you're working as a model. Conscent & respect is much more important bogus modeling competition. Think of all the young girls growing up, trying to model & getting in uncomfortable situations not knowing they were allowed to stand up for themselves, say NO and walk away. I used to watch this show and look up to them and I'm pretty sure i internalized a lot of the pressure they put on these girls

Believe it or not, people are allowed to do things that you don't understand, and that doesn't make them bad. I dont get why so many people struggle to understand the underwear vs bathing suit thing. If a stranger caught you in a dressing room in your underwear you would most likely be uncomfortable, regardless of how much skin is showing. But if someone caught you by surprise in your bathing suit you would probably be much more comfortable with that. Its not some strange forigen concept. Some things are designed to be worn in public and others are literal undergarments. That said I wish she had come up with a more eloquent way to explain herself. Atleast she would go down with her convictions made clear.
@MythicalCreatures104 жыл бұрын
I guess I don't know exactly what she said to explain herself in real life, but the clip of her stuttering to Mr Jay and saying it's just different seems edited. It IS a foreign concept though, for those who doesn't have or get used to that kind of culture. I mean, at some places, people are uncomfortable and not okay to wear bikini and show off that much of skin to public. Both underwear and bikini are the same revealing. So when we see people are okay walking around showing off your skins in bikini, it's the same with underwear. Well I remember when the cast came to Greece it was big news. They wanted to do the shoot on a small island next to Crete called 'Spinalonga' which used to be a leper colony (until treatment was discovered) and the government didn't gave them the permission to do so. Now that I think about it they would probably would have done something tacky like put prosthetics on the girls and make them pose as lepers .

As someone that’s Greek I can say that we are known for many things such as hospitality and our cuisine ( mousaka and souvlaki ) but I’m not so sure about specifically our salad 🤣and it’s nothing like the one they made 🤣

They could have easily given Shannon a pair of shorts to wear with the band of the underwear sticking out above, or possibly even with the button opened if she was comfortable with that. Ridiculous. They knew her limits before she got into the competition, so they need to accommodate.

one time we did a standart preschool photoshoot and kid had extremely sensitive eyes. Honestly it was a nightmare for everyone involved. Parents wanted pics but I'm not sure they realized how much flashes would irritate his eyes
@steffimt49374 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have that light sensitivity and I always absolutely hated to be photographed because of that. It was either the sun light or the flash which irritated my eyes so much that they were always tearing up and I was pulling weird grimaces because of that. It has gotten a tiny bit better now with flashes but direkt sun light? A nightmare, causes migraines for me. So it makes me really sad that they just brushed over the problem the model had. She still looked absolutely gorgeous!

Greek salad is sooo good and a really traditional dish, everyone should eat one while visiting this country ;)

Is it different than the Greek salads in the US? Usually in the US it’s lettuce, olives, cucumbers, feta cheese, tomato, and Greek dressing. And onions or croutons.

@@hbhtcr5707 The traditional greek salad is tomato, cucumber, black olives, onion, green bellpepper, feta cheese, oregano, olive oil and vinegar. There might be croutons in it but it's not the same type you would get in a ceasar's salad, it's a greek variation made from barley and harder so it retains its crispiness for much longer.

I remember reading a meme about the difference between sneaking a view of someone in their underwear and seeing them out in their swimwear, the same amount of skin shown. The difference is consent.
