The judges were really mean to Kelle this cycle. From basically calling her ugly to pretty much saying she is unphotogenic, Kelle endured A LOT this cycle. I hope she is ok after all of the emotional suffering ANTM put her through.

There's an unseen scene in one of those recap episodes where she's looking at herself in the mirror for a long time, and calling her own face a "snout" while she worries about how she looks. It's sickening. Kelle is so, so beautiful to me. So pretty and stunning.

So many people comment on this, and it would be really cool except it would be so expensive for just one shoot. There's not many simple photo shoots on ANTM, its mostly all weird ones. The model, the set, props, the MUA would all have to come out of Jessica's wallet.

Me too! Some of the stuff they say makes no sense too. One of the girls she says it’s a pretty picture but pretty doesn’t make you want to buy the product. Huh??? But a pretty picture makes you stop and look, which means you’re more likely to be interested in the product.

When Tyra yelled at Tiffany like she did, I really took her “when my mother yelled at me like this it’s because she loves me.” Like it’s ok for someone to scream and yell because they’re doing it out of love. Now, as an adult, NO that is abusive logic. She might as well have said “look how you make me react!” It’s not ok.

The sad part is this is the watered down version of what the real world and the real model judges and casting crew would say to them. They were giving them pressure because if they break this early on they won’t make it far breaking into modeling it’s not a walk in the park.

There was absolutely no reason for Jay to say that to Kelle before her shoot. She was happy she won. She tells Jay, and he treats as a "how did that happened". I'm glad Kelle doesn't care for him to this day.

The judges were soooo Mean and despicable to poor Kelle (especially Janice and sometimes Tyra). they broke her so much in this show that they showed Kelle looking at herself in the mirror and crying. That's just so sad :(

fun fact about Ann and Jay: during filming (the other girls corroborated this in chats w/ Oliver Twixt), Jay spent the most time coaching/helping Ann during photoshoots, they were super close during filming & they're best friends still to this day. Edit to add: Jay has confirmed that they pick bad photos of the models to fit storylines/eliminate them, he would go through the film & star rank them by his top pictures (5 star, 4 star, etc...) and send them to production for judging. But, his top picks would more often than not be picked, and said that the chosen pictures were sometimes his 2/1 star ranks.

I would ABSOLUTELY watch a series of Jessica recreating ANTM shoots!!! I'm not even a photographer, lol... I just somehow stumbled onto her channel a couple of years ago, and became an instant fan. I love her personality... she calls out BS when she sees it, but she's also got a great sense of humor, and from my limited understanding, I gather that she's an incredibly talented photographer. HOW FUN would it beeeeee, to have adorable Jessica doing these wild photo shoots in her professional way, with kind respect to her models, but also with her funny comments all through it. I would 100% watch that!! I hope it works out to where she really can make it happen!!

Tocarra - looks like a test shot, no surprise because they haaaated her this season for daring to have confidence. Norelle - REALLY good in the final shot, Jennipher - seems uncomfortable, which could be a result of the skates or it being a test shot, and again, not surprised with the narrative they were giving her this episode. Eva - GORGEOUS but that's no surprise because the judges loved her. And notice how she didn't get yelled at for "talking back" by defending the stylist (also, at least for ONCE they acknowledged that it was the stylist that did something, and not somehow the fault of the model that the hairpiece was placed over her face). Nicole - has a good "broken down doll" look that the judges lean toward (Miss J, anyone?) Yaya - giving fighting energy but you know what? Yaya deserves to be allowed to punch someone after everything this season, so I'm fine with it. Ann - another one that I want to call "test shot" on, even though the photographer seems to be implying this shot is from late in the shoot. Like, she's just standing there. With the skates and all the area they have to move in, these shots feel like they should all involve dynamic posing. Amanda - again, a little static for all the set up, but you can feel the movement in the clothes and it does make a difference. Cassie - posing is almost dynamic, but kind of agree with the judges that it's a bit of a nothing-burger. My guess is that with everything else going on, she "forgot her face" (another favorite of the judges and Mr Jay). Kelle - dynamic! movement! Using the props and the scene, it's such a genuinely good picture. I do think that she looks a little stiff in the face, but again, if she's not comfortable on skates, I'm not surprised that she's tense. I'd pick Norelle or Kelle for top photo and send Ann or Cassie home, if we're discounting the girls that I suspect had test shots chosen for them.

Jay Manuel is overfamiliar and unprofessional and gives no constructive criticism at all. I was in the modelling industry during this era and no one ever spoke to me like that, if they had I'd have been devastated .Also, the treatment of Kelle was straight up bullying, even if she was as bad as they made her out to be, why be so nasty? It's so hard to watch this now.

Back in the day when this was on air, my mom had the same opinion as you that they were choosing good photos for the ones they wanted to go forward, and bad ones for the ones they wanted off. She also hated the show and how manipulative it was. Its funny how I didn't see it at first, not by this season anyway, but eventually saw what she did and stopped watching.

This feels fresh for me since Luxeria covered this whole episode before. Most of your guesses are the same with me. What annoyed me the most is Mr. Jay this episode. He promoted his book but never spoke up of his behavior being a creative director. He said the producers wanted him to be like that but he enjoyed that honestly. We see it. It’s such a horrific and manipulative behavior. The glare and talking behind the models back became his habit throughout the series. Keep being positive Jess, i’m loving it!

Kelle is so beautiful and she seemed like a sweet person. She really took a beating from the judges but also got bullied a bit by the other contestants for I guess having a more privileged lifestyle. And I think she was just being herself not bragging about it. I do believe that Kelle (and Ann) are both photogenic and had great pictures but the show needed the “beautiful girl not photogenic” storyline so they chose their worst photos.

It's so obvious that Jay was there to sabotage the models for supposed reality show 'drama.' I worked on shoots for 25 + years and NO art director or creative director would EVER say stuff like that on a shoot. If they did, nobody would want to work with them. Shoots are really expensive, and no time can be wasted, so your job is to get the best out of the model for the best result, not to drag her down or make her feel insecure, but that seems to be the objective here.

Jessica, I LOOOOOVE your videos and your commentary, you rock!!! Kelle did an interview with somebody long after the show breaking down how horrible the show was to her, it was actually so sad... I'm convinced they purposefully sabotaged her because of Tyra's jealousy. Kelle mentions actually being super successful at running her own business at 19, and it's a candidate like that which Tyra wants to shoot down immediately. I think the film editors of the show knew this too, because it you look at every photo shoot with Kelle, you see photos on the film that are incredible, and then the judging panel picks something awful that same episode. I think there's a whole Reddit conspiracy on this and everything😜
