Jessie J covers Michael Jackson's Rock With You for CJ Beatz on BBC Radio 1Xtra from the legendary Maida Vale Studios

I can hear every word enunciated CLEARLY, every single note is on point has a beginning and end and isn't masked by the musicality from the band. By the way those guys are feeling it and HER as a singer not just some clothes horse who does karaoke. This is clearly a tribute to an artist that she obviously looked up to. She isn't trying to do an exact cover at all but is putting her own unique interpretation on a classic tune. I can't even be arsed to comment on those with rocks for brains who compare our Jessie to 'singers' like Rihanna and Katy Perry. Are you effing kidding me?! Piss off.

do you say this just because that two are really good and that acoustic guitarist is not so good, or just for they two are black?
@wakeuphebrewswithbishopcol38044 жыл бұрын
@@suloman5845 Well let's put it like this, since you mentioned it, yes because they are kicking the bottom in the song and they are black. They could have given the at least one close up a piece, but maybe that would have changed the video shoot's positioning of the cameras and hindered the groove making multiple takes to keep the camera man out of the shot. However it is still a great video!

@@DFCZE Yeah, he'd pretty much retired after being proven not guilty of all 14 counts in that trial that many agreed should never have even happened in the first place. He'd left the US and just wanted a quiet life and be a great dad to his kids. He didn't even really want to do the 'This Is It' tour but felt forced to for several reasons. Unfortunately all the health issues worsened and his appalling treatment by the promoters AEG added to it and dodgy doctor murray added the 'killing blow'. Jackson should be alive today. Paris, Prince and Bigi should have their father. As Rev Al Sharpton said at Jackson's funeral "wasn’t nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what your daddy had to deal with..." I honestly regret I never appreciated the guy when he was alive. It wasn't til I watched a certain debunked piece of garbage claiming to be a 'documentary', expecting myself to relate to the guys in it as an actual survivor myself, noticing it didn't make any sense, researched the facts, went all the way down that rabbit hole and damn... yeah. Those frauds don't speak for me or any other genuine survivor. Jackson was the victim. And it's appalling some people refuse to see that even though none of the facts or evidence are even hidden. It's no conspiracy. ANyone can research the legal documents, court transcripts, the FBI file, the masses of actual evidence that makes the accusations literally impossible to be true. Most people just can't be bothered. They WANT to believe he did that stuff. Why? Something not quite right with themselves... is it a racist thing? or is a projection thing? who knows?

Almost like she's playing a character in a musical, Jesse J does her infectious impression of MJ's sometimes breathy and tremulous R & B voice, and it's a lot of fun! A tight, talented band lays down some tangy licks, and Jesse lets the disco groove carry her away... All the negative comments here smack of sexism. This is a woman who covered Celine Dion and Whitney Houston's signature songs as well as they themselves sang them. She's a top tier vocalist.

I'll be honest: I was prepared not to like this. Michael's music is just one of those areas where I feel artists should tread lightly, I mean, how do you improve upon that level of greatness? Whosoever DARES had better "bring it," or else be ready to get criticized harshly for a long time. After listening to this, I am happy to say I was more than "pleasantly surprised," I actually got caught up in the nostalgia of the song and wanted to applaud her for taking me there. Having met Michael many times and seen him and his reaction to people singing his songs as a tribute to him, I think it's fair to say that he would have been bowled over by Jessie J's style and vocal control so much so that I imagine a duet would have come out of it somehow. Jessie J has vocal control like no other in the charts at the moment. In fact many out there don't even have a vocal ability to control..... But Jessie J has this ability to control every note and you can hear her doing it using her diaphragm and larynx. It seems so effortless to her. She is definitely one of the best vocalists to come from the UK in many a year and I post this opinion speaking as someone who isn't remotely close to being a Jessie J fan.... I just know when I hear a good vocalist.

Shevaldinho123 I must admit, after thinking about it you're right; Sam Smith (and Ariana for that matter) have really nice voices but their singing is still immature (at least compared to Jessie's incredible voice control). Thus I'd like to think Tori Kelly comes close enough. I've heard her do things with her voice that very little singers are able to do (and, like Jessie, is much better live than studio'd)

AMAZINGNESS! And I love how she was so restrained with it, but still managed to add her signature stylistic vocal touches on it still. Great job. I love her tone/voice.

She so underrated as a vocalist. All these trash singers out now
@KremIsis7 жыл бұрын
but, uhmm, based on this performance she's not underrated at all, she's just in the right place. She's undoubtedly good, but nothing special, here. It's more like nowadays anyone who can sing a tune in a decent mode is considered a great singer. A great singer is completely something else.
@victorharries30557 жыл бұрын
She's an awesome singer, but not a good writer i think. "Alive", her album from 2013 is so boring, that i can't hear to it.

@tim-nicebut-dim67717 жыл бұрын
nothing special wait while i stop laughing the girl has some skills a unique voice not like 90% of the stuff we listen too nowadays and lets not suger coat shit here not many artist in MJ era sang live even the king himself

Such a controlled performance and I appreciate it! I think she knew that she shouldn't over sing a Michael Jackson song and it really paid off. Good cover. And great song by the way, I'm almost in disbelief that it came out in 1979 haha; it sounds amazing.
