Never would have thought that 'Daybreak' by Barry Manillow would be the theme of a serial killer.

Dotty - she's played by Mink Stole. She was in a lot of John Waters's movies. Misty was played by Rikki Lake - the original Tracy Turnblad from the original dance but not musical Hairspray movie from the 80s (also directed by John Waters) which later became the Broadway musical and the musical movie.

Nikki does make an appearance in the modern musical movie as one of the talent scouts in the miss hairspray pageant, and John waters is the flashers that lives next door (im sure you knew)

Absolutely LOVE that you reacted to this film. Your laugh is so adorable! The camp in this movie is everything. Well, it's John Waters so that's to be expected. This film is chock full of 80s and 90s cameos that you are WAY too young to catch, but I'll be happy to fill you in on them some time. Have a great 2024!

Thank you sm! ❤️ I loved this movie so much I live for anything campy and over the top!! I think I need to add more John Waters films to the list

@@JessieJesus Be warned, though. Some of his early stuff is may be way too extreme. This and "Hairspray" are considered to be his most "mainstream". :)

@@JessieJesusSo you want some more John Waters? I have for you the original Hairspray, Crybaby, Polyester and Pink Flamingos! Enjoy the weird world of The King of trash, The Pope of bad taste John Waters!

She's a very underrated serial killer. Probably because she's such a nice lady.

11:23 The woman Carl showed up at the swap-mark was Traci Lords - she'd become infamous in the few years before she starred in this movie and John Waters previous movie 'Cry-Baby' both as a porn star and because it was discovered that she was actually a minor when she made most of her movies. She'd been abused a few times before she entered the porn industry. She hadn't realised initially what kind of modelling agency she'd auditioned for, thought it was a genuine one. She was 15. The juror woman - yep, that's Patty Hearst, as in the heiress who was kidnapped and took part in a robbery with her kidnappers.

12:19 Don't worry, that was just John Waters voicing ted Bundy. I don't think she'd ever kill an actual family member.

18:50 Roald Dahl did that in one of his short stories for adults - 'Lamb to the Slaughter'. Except in that story the leg of lamb was completely frozen and had just been taken out of the freezer so the wife only had to swing it once to kill her husband. Luckily since it wasn't planned, she was in a state of shock when it happened. She ended up serving it to the policemen who were investigating her husbands death - could hear them talking in the other room with their mouths full of meat about how the weapon was probably still somewhere in the house, probably even right under their noses. It was as close to what Beete Davis (as Margo Channing) asked for in 'All About Eve' - "Lloyd honey, be a playwright with guts. Write me one about a nice, normal woman, who just shoots her husband" as we're probably ever going to get.

omg thank you for reacting to this movie!! the way i nearly died laughing at "beverly it's me, ted bundy. it's late at night six days before my execution and it's lonely here on death row" cemented this movie as an all-time classic for me

People may always see Sam Waterston as McCoy in the Law and Order franchise, but it's so awesome to see him play against type!

You mention her iconic seductive voice being sexy.. Makes sense why she was cast as the voice of the voluptuous cartoon Jessica Rabbit in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' then, doesn't it? Lol. Cuz that's her alright.. Looking back to my childhood, that cartoon bombshell of a redhead always made me feel strange ways both seeing & hearing her on screen & as I got older & heard her voice in this film & then saw THAT courtroom scene, those strange feelings came back. Who knew it was just me having a thing for Kathleen Turner the entire time, lmao.. Or maybe just a thing for a shapely drawn woman, Kathleen's amazing voice & her fast knees perhaps.. I WAS a fan of Suzanne Somers in the Thighmaster commercials too, lmfao..😂❤✌🏻

1. It's not actually based on real story. 2. The scene at the beginning w/the fly is referencing back when John Waters killed a chicken in the making of the movie Pink Flamingos. Watch the movie(if you haven't already) before you lookup John's retelling of the chicken incident.

1:22 N'ah, John waters is just joshing you - sorry, he just made that up for a laugh. Joshing is something we say (or used to say) to say things like 'I'm teasing you', or 'it was only a joke'. Might be Australian, not sure.
