I think this is when Jester's cute flirting came to an end. To know that Caleb had lost someone or was separated from someone this close to him. It made her look at him a different way. It helped her think of love in a different way.

2 months late on my part, but this is a fantastic way of looking at it. I see how Jester gravitated towards Caleb, as both are adults yet lacking in some fundamental social experiences. But Jester still has maturity enough to know that Caleb isn't some toy to play with.

I like to think of this dance as a representation for what you have to deal with in order to be in a relationship with Caleb, to truly know him and the pain he carries in order to help him through the fire and flames if you will.

this is the point where Caleb fell in love with Jester....and to me..although i don't think she quite knows herself even its when Jester fell in love with Caleb. Remember Jesters only knowledge of Real Relationships comes from what she's gleaned from her mothers establishment and smutty romance books. She met Fjord first and he's handsome and dashing and sure she likes him. I see Jester and Fjords relationship more akin to "A guy with a female friend he's known forever but doesn't even see her as a girl" Kind of thing. kind of like a guy who's got this female friend who hes known a really long time and she's just one of the guys but she keeps on walking thru the apartment in her underwear "For the love of god put some clothes on". I think after this moment she started seeing Caleb differently and when ever he wanted to go do something she was always coming along. She's so much more worried about Caleb then she is of Fjord. ie "Modern Literature" she completely loses her shit...especially when cure wounds doesn't work. or going to Esseks with caleb or at the end when Caleb and Beau come back from the Wind of Eons and talk about "The Ego of powerful wizards" and Jester looks at Caleb and says "But you aren't going to change...right?" i can see in her face she's thinking "You're going to stay my caleb right?"

@@salanan7793 Although I don't quite believe Jester thinks of Caleb as "My" just yet, even subcosciously. I am inclined to agree with you that she does freak out whenever Caleb gets hurt but she would freak out if any of the others got hurt and I suppose that's one of the things Caleb likes about her: her adorably geniune care for other people. Also considering how Caleb thinks of himself as the lowest of the low, the fact that she would even stoop to his level has probably astonished him for the entire time he's known Jester. It's also interesting you bring up "the Ego of powerful wizards" I adn't though of her comment that way at all and I think that's amazing.

@@tiringsarcasm Oh yeah no the "My Caleb" bit was just how I myself was reading that sentence. I don't think she even realizes that she is in love with him. I don't think she really understands what her feelings for him are. She doesn't really have any experience at all with Emotional Relationships. Her mother is a Courtesan, so growing up her education on relationships is based on that. Other members of the party have been hurt and even gone unconscious, but i don't recall her ever freaking out to that degree. i remember Beau unconscious and bloody and Jester having an internal struggle "Do i heal Beau...do i kill the monster...heal....kill...heal....I'm a Cleric" Now thats not saying she doesn't care when Beau or Fjord or Nott get hurt...i just don't remember her ever getting that worked up

He knew he could never be like that. An apparition gliding on the floor as her ballet shoes never even made noise. Caleb looked at her sister in awe as he was only made to destroy, while she was made to create life. He heard her call to him as he dumbly stared at her, as if like she was in the next room shouting to him. She wanted to dance with him, as he shook his head and laughed, "You were always a better dancer than me, Astrid! Always so good!". The vision as soon as it came, it left him as he heard Jester question, "Astrid?". Caleb felt his stomach turn and his mind go blank as he stumbled backward, looking up at the blue Tiefling girl he danced with. Instead he saw the charred corpse, looking into running melted eyes as the the broken ash ridden teeth smiled at him. Caleb took a step back and tried to regain his composure. He felt like he was there, it felt so real. He is close to what he needs, he can feel it. Soon he will have them back again, soon he'd be free.

I'm pretty sure Astrid isn't Caleb's sister, and is one of the kids he trained with under Trent. But watching this and hearing the music, and the obvious connection of Laura and Liam being very sibling like, it just dawned on me. Also thanks for putting up these stellar vids, editing is amazing! Especially the Fjord and Jester moment on the ship, the music had me in tears :,)

Guys, it took the first campaign years to reach the point where their characters had enough individual grounding to experiment with relationships, ya cant rush these guys into them after a few months. (Guilty hope) But to be honest, I think having a short fling happen between 2 of them that doesn't last could lead to lots of character development. And hilarious awkwardness that seems to be missing from this group being so close right off the bat.
