Avantika DID just finish saying that whoever stole from her "does not understand the rules of the city very well", and they are very likely the only newcomers. Keep in mind the Mistake crew is also on board, so ALL newcomers were aboard the ship, on the off chance it was some crafty crewmembers and not the M9 themselves. Also, Fjord's presence in her chambers in the meanwhile was likely a dead giveaway.

There was a very good chance she had Vera cast locate object the very night it was stolen and knew it was being kept in the room most of them stayed (I think only Travis and Caduseus returned to their own room before the next day)

@@RijaMo avantika is a pretty capable fighter, she has an ogre, a magic user, a crew of pirates And a city of pirates on her side. And Caleb is exhausted. Them surviving through fighting is only going to happen if Matt goes easy on them. So either they flee or die

Not only that, but the nearby guards will probably come to Avantika's assistance, since she's a well-known member of the Revelry. The party also have no idea where the Mistake is docked (and even if they did, stealing it and sailing away like last time would prove quite difficult since Darktow has significant naval defenses). Finally, the deck below is filled with gunpowder and Caleb just set the whole upper deck on fire.

Not sure if it will set the ship ablaze. The spell itself doesn't specify if wood catches fire, everyone on the other side of that wall will take damage if they are 10ft from or inside the wall. Nott could fluffernutter the ship if she manages to get below deck.
