Hi. I’m glad I found your video. Very insightful. Loved the bit on Melchizedek! However, your genealogy chart is a little confusing. “I” get that it really shows the genealogy of “Elimelech,” but the way it’s titled and b/c you don’t “show” the genealogy of Jesus from Jacob’s son Judah on the bottom, some may be led to think that Jesus also descended from the Tribe of Ephraim, when according to the Gospels of Luke and Matthew Jesus, David, Jesse, Obed, and Boaz all descended from the Tribe of Judah, but your chart doesn’t show that. Also the Bible says in Ruth chapter 1, that Naomi made the decision to return home to Bethlehem because the famine was over there. Recall, it was the famine that caused Elimelech to bring his family to the land of Moab. However, Naomi got word that “the LORD had visited His people in giving them bread,” and that’s why she decided to return home. Excellent explanation as to why Obed is attributed to Naomi and not Ruth. Great job! Thank you for sharing your video!!

@shanoncampbell6825 i appreciate your kind words and that chart is a very elementary chart, not exhaustive at all. I just wanted to spotlight Ruth and Boaz's connection to David....Luke 3 makes the connection of Joseph to David. The backdrop as you laid out is correct, Naomi returned home because of famine and having heard there was bread back home. I don't see Ephraim connected to Jesus. Also, with Melchisidek, this is something God had done from Genesis, setting precedence, sort of like an inception of a thought, that is, His Word within time, so that later in the annals of history going forward, God will have had doctrine long before it was taught by any apostle or any of us, so that it would be fresh Word for what He intended on doing in His strategic time. Again, don't put too much investment in my little picture chart, it's very rudimentary

Hey there! I totally understood your chart. My point was that some others who are not as well-versed in the Word, might misunderstand it as saying Jesus descended from the Tribe of Ephraim. Here’s something to help you understand why Luke’s gospel IS the genealogy of Christ through MARY, though she is not named. Heli was MARY’S father. He was Joseph’s father-in-law by marriage. We know that because Matthew 1:16 says, “JACOB begat Joseph, the HUSBAND of Mary, of whom was born Jesus.” So Joseph’s father was a man named Jacob, not Jacob the grandson of Abraham because we’re talking hundreds and hundreds of years later, so this is another man whose name is also Jacob. However, Luke’s genealogy reads as though Joseph is the son of Heli, b/c Luke traces Jesus’ genealogy from a males only perspective, whereas Matthew includes women in his account. Hope that helps! I look forward to seeing more of your videos!

Joseph's father was Jacob, not the patriarch Jacob who is Israel....i understand that. However, both Matthew and Luke records geneologies of Joseph: Matthew 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. Luke 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, The following is an exempt from eusebias' records; (again, this too is extra-canonical, but sheds light on why Heli(Eli) is and Jacob is of davidic lineage through Jacob, not Heli (probably for the same reason Obed is lawfully considered Naomi's to care for, but reckoned under Boaz's name and lineage, to restore Naomi, as probably what happened with Heli which was reportedly deceased, thus his "brother Jacob redeemed the line. See below what Eusebias wrote: And when Matthan was dead, Melchi, who traced his descent back to Nathan, being of the same tribe but of another family, married her as before said, and begat a son Eli. Thus we shall find the two, Jacob and Eli, although belonging to different families, yet brethren by the same mother. Of these the one, Jacob, when his brother Eli had died childless, took the latter's wife and begat by her a son to Joseph, his own son by nature and in accordance with reason. Wherefore also it is written: 'Jacob begat Joseph.' But according to law he was the son of Eli, for Jacob, being the brother of the latter, raised up seed to him. Hence the genealogy traced through him will not be rendered void, which the evangelist Matthew in his enumeration gives thus: 'Jacob begat Joseph.' But Luke, on the other hand, says: 'Who was the son, as was supposed' (for this he also adds), 'of Joseph, the son of Eli, the son of Melchi'; for he could not more clearly express the generation according to law. And the expression 'he begat' he has omitted in his genealogical table up to the end, tracing the genealogy back to Adam the son of God. This interpretation is neither incapable of proof nor is it an idle conjecture. Joseph (husband of Mary) was Jacob's biological son while he was Heli's legal son. In either case, both geneologies connects to Joseph, not Mary. Mary's father was named Joachim and her mother's name was Anna by other sources. I still do not see an ephramite connection anywhere here

Also remember, in this lesson, I explained, maybe not great, lol....that Mahlon would be legally the father of Obed, biologically it was Boaz. Also note, Ruth was a Moabitess woman, who under the law would not carry children as moabite, but by marriage to a jew, Jewish. I think Mary is a daughter from David’s house too, but I have no real conclusive proof of that; despite that, she married Joseph the son from the line of David; legally via Heli and Nathan, biologically via Jacob and Solomon. I hope that helps
