This hymn is the exit hymn that we sing at funerals in our family. Because, no matter what, we go forth rejoicing and live in the hope of the Resurrection, and the knowledge of the love of God. Thanks for the post! Hallelujah, the Lord is Risen!

@JHaupt6314 Thank you so much for your comment. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! The Easter service at St. Bart's (as I'm sure is true of many other churches worldwide) is filled with a kind of humble happiness that is full of thanksgiving and really stirs the spirit. Hopefully when I get a new digital camera, I can begin recording the services. Thanks again!

I'm very glad that you enjoyed this video! Easter Day affords us-and so many other churches as well-the opportunity to offer some of the most beautiful and moving services. Just a kind reminder that St. Bartholomew's is an Episcopal church, of the Anglican tradition. However, we consider ourselves part of "the one holy, catholic (i.e., universal) and apostolic church." :)

At an Episcopal Church....makes you proud to be Catholic! ROTFL, how much we Catholics have to aspire to compared to music of our Episcopal brethren.

Joseph, keep in mind that King Henry VIII broke off from the Catholic Church and started the separate Anglican Church (from which the Episcopal Church came), which consequentially makes you separate from the one holy catholic and apostolic church.

@JoeNYCBoi The fact that this is what normally happens at St. Bartholomew's is what makes it that much more incredible, and really special! Then again, I guess nothing less than the finest should be expected! That Cor De Gabriel at 3:00 even is really something to talk about, too!
@JoeNYCBoi13 жыл бұрын
@Organsk8er Glad you liked/loved it. What I love about it is that it's *not* extravagant; it's quite simple. The only addition to the Procession itself is the banners; everything else, crosses, candles, choir, clergy, we do every week. It's the music, accentuated by the Easter brass, that gives the day its spirit and joy.

I'd like to, but I don't want to obstruct or distract anyone's worship. That's the reason I've moved up to the balcony when I record the hymns. But perhaps I can try to record more of the service. Glad you liked the video!

@karpov89 Thanks! Yeah, it is a beautiful church. I like the blending of different designs. The exterior is Romanesque, the ceilings are decorated with Byzantine-style mosaics, and the windows have medieval/Reformation stained glass. We're not affiliated with the Charismatic tradition, but many Episcopal churches use banners during high celebrations like Easter. I think the Cathedral of St. John the Divine used them during the re-dedication of the organ.

Verse 4 is a "Trinidadian" or "Doxologic" stanza and can be used as a table grace or Offertory Response (with Amen after the final Alleluei).

To the person who calls It flowing TP on a Stick. It is Not TP, you were seeing a Thuriibel (correct me if I've spelled the name of the device wrong) and the white stuff is called "Holy Smoke" . The person carrying the Thuriibel is called a Thurrifer (again, feel free to correct the spellings of device and title names).

The title of this famous hymn is, Christ the Lord is Risen Today. It was written by the founder of the United Methodist Church, Charles Wesley. Jesus Christ is Risen Today is A different hymn to a different tune.

@frater09 It's called a liturgical banner. I believe it's used more for decoration, but sometimes it does have more symbolism. If they are used on Pentecost, for example, they may be colored red to visually symbolize the fire of the Holy Spirit.

St. Bart's is low church. This and Trinity Church Boston. None better.
@anthonyjyearwood8162 жыл бұрын
St. Bart's is not low church. It's "Broad" church right in middle between low and high. The so-called low churches in NYC are St. George/Calvary and Grace Church (which still has Morning Prayer and Sermon as the principal service on Sundays. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month). There may be others.
