It is great to hear a sane, intelligent Christian sounding like Joseph Campbell. The didactic serenity of a legendary hero is wisdom in action, whether he is literary or historical, and always something to be treasured. "These are our stories, and I find new meaning in them each time I hear them," said a great Klingon thinker. That it is the most told story of all time, thus far, means that if there is a God, He is reminding us not to miss this one.

He's always been a Christian, but he''s also always been a human being. After a lot of efforts over a lot of years, fortunately he's managed to stay sober, and to strike a happy balance between his onstage persona and his real-life personality. As an atheist who's never played golf, I may not have anything directly in common with him, but I'll always love his work and admire his talent, and he seems to be a genuinely good guy in any case. So even in my non-religious, non-golfing book, Alice Cooper rules. (Anybody got a problem with that?)

He said that word of mouth spread Jesus' miracles like wildfire. Word of mouth also spread Alice's deeds like wildfire. Few of which, by the way, were true. Did Alice rip apart a live chicken on stage? No. The audience did. And even when the story made it to print ... it was false. There's been a lot of "word of mouth" on Alice, Ozzy, Marilyn Manson, and so on. And they've been published as "fact" via various mediums. Irony?

Alice we need to pray for John 5. Pax. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Liberate us from all evil and all diabolic disturbance. You that through the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ, your beloved Son, hath delivered us from the power of darkness and death and hath translated us into Thy Kingdom of light and holiness, free our brother N. now from all domain and connection to satan and his angels. Free him of all evil forces, crush them, destroy them so that N. can get well and live according to Thy most Holy Will. Deliver him from all malefices, from witchcraft, from black masses, from spells, from maledictions, from evil eye, from satanic rites, from satanic cults, from consecrations to satan. Destroy all connections to satan and to all people connected to satan, living or dead. Deliver him from all diabolical infestations, from all diabolical possession, from all diabolical obsession, and from all sin or consequence of sin. Destroy all these evils in hell, that they may never torment N. again or any other creture in the entire world. God the Father Almighty, I beseech Thee, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Saviour and through the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin to order all unclean spirits, all the powers that molest N. to leave him immediatly, and to leave him forever and to be consigned into the everlasting hell, where they will be thrust by Saint Michael the archangel, Saint Gabriel, by Saint Raphael, by our Guardian Angels, crushed beneath the heel of the Blessed Virgin Mary our Immaculate Mother. Thou who hast created man in Your own Image and Likeness in Holiness and Justice and have not forsaken him after sin, but with wise providence saved him through the mystery of the incarnation, passion, death and resurrection of Thy most beloved Son, save your servant and deliver him from evil and from the enemy's slavery; banish from him the spirit of lying, pride, lust, greed, anger, envy, gluttony, sloth, and all kinds of evil. Receive him in Thy Kingdom, open his heart to unsderstand Thy Gospel, so that he may live always as a child of light, may witness the truth and practice works of charity according to Thy commandments. With the breath of Thy mouth, Lord, cast the evil spirits out: order them to leave because Thy Kingdom come. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who is God with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit. R. Amen The Lord free you from all evil, in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. R. Amen. Let us Bless the Lord R. Thank God

This is really sad. I had such hopes for Vince (Alice), especially since years ago he'd made profession of faith in Christ, and since on some level he'd befriended such godly men and solid theologians as RC Sproul. With all of Alice's profession of faith, and the fact that he attends Bible studies, etc., he apparently hasn't grasped the fact that "Jesus Christ Superstar" is not a good thing at all. It's a piece of blasphemous trash entertainment, with a "Jesus" that is quite palatable to this pagan Christ-hating world. In fact Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice have said specifically that they do not believe Jesus to be God, and their story is designed to reflect their banal worldview. What could be more clear? The "Jesus" in the story of JCS in no way, shape, nor form resembles the Jesus revealed to us in the Scriptures. The "Jesus" of JCS is a bewildered buffoon who hasn't a clue as to who he is nor to what he's supposed to be doing, who gets mixed up in some sort of confusion, and by some terrible mistake ends up getting crucified. And he dies, and well, everyone gets on the bus and goes home. The end. Oh how rather tragic, eh? Life goes on. Oh but we can learn to be "nice" from the doofus "Jesus" of JCS. Isn't that what makes it all worth it? The "Jesus " portrayed in JCS is in fact a DENIAL of the One whom the Scriptures portray for us, who is God almighty in the flesh, who came to the world He created, in the form of a human being, to rescue us idiots from ourselves and more importantly from His own wrath; identifying with us in every way (except for sin) in His humiliation, for the express purpose of living a life of perfect obedience to the Law of God; to suffer unjustly at the hands of wicked men; to truly die in his flesh, and that his same body should be raised again on the third day, ascending to the Father, awaiting the day of His return to the judge the world ... that same judgement that He came to rescue us from ... and to which we all snub our noses and say "No, we like the limp-wristed know-nothing invented by the perverted minds of Webber and Rice." And for that, all of us who cuddle that "Jesus" in our hearts will experience the eternal wrath of the holy, righteous, and living God. I'm afraid that Alice has spent too much time trying to hold onto a context that is contrary to that of true, Biblical Christianity, and so has succumbed to deception. And it's apparent that his sycophants are too busy adulating him (and themselves) to really care about thinking critically and cautiously about the message being preached in Jesus Christ Superstar.

@Gaaralovescookies906 жыл бұрын
Jesus Christ Superstar is the Passion from Judas' perspective. Speculative? Of course, none of us was there. But "blasphemy"? I think that's a stretch. It's an artist's interpretation of Holy Week from the perspective of the man who betrayed Christ. Poetic license notwithstanding, after seeing JCSS last night in the theater, I can assure you the show does not "blaspheme" Christ. It is scripturally accurate as far as the timeline and actions of the major players, and if anything, shows the human aspect of Jesus. If you remember your scripture, Jesus was "man" first and foremost, who was the living embodiment of God on earth. So far as he was pure and without sin, he was human and had flaws. To generalize and say the show is blasphemy is again, a stretch.
@MamaBoots0076 жыл бұрын

I hold to the Commandents. Thou shalt not bare false witness to thy neighbor. So I say unto thee. Go fuck thyself. The production brings realism to Christ the Man. How he was. A person of conviction, depth and complication. Alice was wrong. Not all Christians wrongly assert Christ as God, because that is blasphemy. Christ is the son. Not the Father. Christ speaks for the Father's truth which makes them one in spirit not the literal sense.
