Pastor David Guzik continues in his series on the book of Hebrews. In chapter 7 we see how Melchizedek was a picture of Jesus, our High Priest. Jesus wants to be our High Priest.

Tithe was made before the law , abraham was before the law and abraham gave his tithe to Melchizedek, while law was given and writen in the time of moses which is long before abraham did it, and yes we can give more than ten percent, it is not written that give ten percent only.

I can attest. We cannot outgive God. And it's so cool, that God loves a cheerful giver, because I do get a lot of joy out of giving. Making a difference.

New Living Translation " 2 Cor. 9 vs. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully." Clear new covenant giving principles,. Not about top, bottom etc. In fact Abraham didn't give from an income , spoils not income. Notice how much each decides to give, it's al about heart position also notice must not be a response to pressure , the moment any percentage is established that easily becomes a source of pressure. The emphasis is not on percentage but position of heart. Yes ask the Lord how to give and respond accordingly.

I am understanding clearly by and by through only God's wisdom but please reply me what is written in verses, 4 that, though Melchizedek is our lord Jesus Himself but why it's written He was made like the son of God, also God is so supreme and God's is greate but I don't mean Jesus is low though theirs a different in naming em' like, the Father and the son, I think the one that w walk and talk to Adam and Eve in the Eden Gardens was Melchizedek Himself!?! what you have to correct me!and God forbid/forgive if I had ask what I should not I meant it because we are having Bible studies right this whole month's, may God bless us all and pray for me mr. Lamminlal to give me more wisdom of good to know evils among goods so do reply. Thanks

Here are scriptures that people use to confirm the belief that Melchizedek was preincarnate Jesus. John 8:56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.” (notice that Jesus used past tense) Now the valid question following to Jesus’ word would be: When did Abraham ever see Jesus’ day and was glad, considering that Abraham lived almost two thousand years before Jesus said this word? To counter this, Jesus said: John 8:58 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. They believe that Abraham knew when he encountered Melchizedek that he was Jesus. I lean towards that belief as well.

it says ,''the greater was blessed by the lesser,'' but as a ,type of Christ as a priest unto God, and the elements representing the body and the blood, the bread and the wine-eating His flesh and drinking His blood??? getting to this in reality has to be prophesied somewhere. Knowing that Jesus is the manifestation of God in the flesh and eating His flesh that becomes the power that destroys the works of the devil, are two different things, without the Godhead bodily over the church is an impossible feat.

Can I suggest the context of 1 Corinthians 16:2 and 2 Cor 9:7 is talking about being generous to the Lord's People as is the heading in my Bible NIV. This strikes me as different to tithing. Tithing means 10% so is that why we have tithe and freewill offerings in some churches so the limit we give is 10% and then we have the chance to give more? What do people think?
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Жыл бұрын
Tithing is a word sometimes used in these times as referring to giving 10%, but the New Testament church and today's church is not obligated by the Law of the tithe. We are simply to give freely to the Lord and to others. That being so, sometimes we modern day Christians will use the word tithe as a reference to giving to God, and some Believers use the 10% law of the Old Testament as modern day model of what to give to God in these days. I hope that this helps.

I think you're spot on. One church I went too had 2 baskets, 1 labelled tithe and the other offering to give 10% in the tithe one and whatever you wish in the offering. Other churches have envelopes to put tithe in and any extra you want to loose in the basket.
