"And on the Easter, we be sad because someone make him dead today." Oh god, Sedaris has what is quite possibly the best sense of humour of our age.

I think anyone who has ever tried to learn a second language can totally relate to this. And that's why it's hilarious.

This story in particular is hilarious to me because A) I went to a catholic school and B) I was in french immersion. I learned all the Catholic prayers and everything about Christianity in French. So to hear about how he and his classmates struggled with explaining aspects of Easter.
"The maaagic dustpan flies in from the North Pole!" xD Gotta love Sedaris.

I do love you, Dave. That's all. I do love you. Because you say things. True things. Good things. And you know, like that. You might be Jesus on two morsels of lumber.

hilarious and reverent, i can't help but see richard dawkins answering the question of "what if you're wrong"? he proceeds to go into "what if you're wrong" about a half dozen other religions we call "mythology"... is a flying bell really any different than a boy trapped in a whale? what a story teller, i seriously laugh harder at his musings than i do any comedian.

The bleep at the end...now THAT'S fucked up
@apeironcalamity13 жыл бұрын
@cornflaked Agreed. Bleeps are funny. Fucks are not. For example: watch the Boondocks or South Park unedited, and a lot of the humor is gone. The taboo is removed, and now they're just cursing.

@Beckham347 - Really? This is the best of his stuff, in your opinion? I'm listening, and it's amusing, but I don't find it laugh-out-loud funny. I can relate too, having taken second language courses. This is actually encouraging, since I have writing skills and funnier real-life stories than this. Maybe you'll be reading my books one day!
