How can any person be confused and claim to be God???! It can not be! What Jesus did for the world is unmeasured by every creature in heaven and on earth. All praise for Jesus and his sacrifice for all us humans in agreement with hebrews 1, in the name and by the blood of Christ, with evil put under the feet of Christ....lets tread upon every lie that want to diminish who Jesus is! Amen. Annelies Bakker, the Netherlands.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (December 6), Hebrews 1:1-5, along with Matthew 1:1-6, 16-17, was the basis for our Sunday School Lesson of the Day. It was entitled "Called through Heritage." The hymn, "Word of God, Come Down on Earth," written by James Quinn (1919-2010), is a good hymn to compliment these Scriptures, regardless of denomination.

Wow ! Thank you pastor David for your detailed explanation of Hebrews 1:1-4 and I am so blessed. By creation and conscience we know God exists. We could see God in Jesus. The Creator, the Heir, the Sustainer, the Redeemer, the Ruler, the Revealer and the Supreme. Amen.

Concentrate for a minute on Rev 4:3. Read Ez 1 27-28 and Heb 1 3. The emerald is the stone of the tribe of Judah. Jesus is the rainbow in Chapter 4. It is the most beautiful description of the relationship between the Father and the Son. Also it is clear that no one comes to the Father except through the Son. Give this some thought and then read Chapters 10 and 11. Compare the events in Chapters 10 and 11 to 1 Thess 4:16-17. I believe that Jesus is the rainbow, the angel is the archangel, the roar(shout or command) is issued with the voice of the archangel. The seventh trumpet then blows and we have 1 Cor 15:52. By the way the salvation of the Jewish people is in Chapter 11 - seven thousand were killed and the rest gave the glory to God - just the opposite of when God reserved for himself seven thousand who had not bowed their kness to Baal. May God let us be like the bereans.
Thank you for not claiming with certainty that Paul wrote Hebrews! The truth is we DON’T know who wrote it. Just because it has hints of Paul doesn’t prove it’s by Paul. It could be someone who spoke similar to Paul. We know it LACKS Paul’s common heading.

Hebrews 1:3a Who being the brightness of his glory, and the EXPRESS IMAGE of his person The word in Heb. 1:3 variously translated as “express image” and “very image” and “exact imprint” and “exact representation” is χαρακτὴρ (charaktēr) which is not to be found anywhere else in the New Testament, yet in the Greek Old Testament there are 3 verses in which it is used. And one of the verses couldn’t be better to show how the word was incorrectly translated for Hebrews 1:3 : 4Mac 15.4 (Brenton trans.) O in what way can I describe ethically the affections of parents toward their children, the resemblance of soul and of form engrafted into the small type of a child in a wonderful MANNER, especially through the greater sympathy of mothers with the feelings of those born of them! 4Mac 15.4 (NRSV) In what manner might I express the emotions of parents who love their children? We impress upon the character of a small child a wondrous LIKENESS both of mind and of form. Especially is this true of mothers, who because of their birth pangs have a deeper sympathy toward their offspring than do the fathers.

but wouldn't that mean God is bragging about himself if he's bragging about Jesus this confuses me
@AboveInfection3 жыл бұрын
God can righteously brag on Himself because His pride is justified by his perfection. When we brag or boast, it is not addressing our wickedness nor does it take into account the we can do nothing good apart from God. But God is self-sufficient, so He has no person to put credit in except Himself. :) Not to mention God is 3 persons one being so He is bragging on his own being yet in a deprecate person. Hope this helped!
