( Don’t really know the inner workings of college finances ect obviously, but I think these videos would be really useful for many people and make them much more likely to apply, so maybe it would be a good idea to use more marketing/WP budget to try and push them as adds or higher up on people’s feeds).

I think something is funny when something happens that we don't expect. Politics is very monotonous so its rare we see things that are comical, however when we do we really dont expect them. This means something that wouldn't usually be hilarious is very hilariouis when politicians do it. I also think this is the reason news bloopers have so many views on youtube because the news is meant to be very serious.

@@o.knight-catalinete6934 The week leading up the exam is absolute hell. But surprisingly, the day before isn't that bad. The exam was easier than had I practised. I used The Ultimate LNAT Guide and did over 300 practice questions. I think if you've done a decent number of practice questions, you'll be fine. From my experience, the exam administrators are really cool and they'll help you through it on the day. Good luck, you'll do great!

Hi Dr Williams, thank you for all your helpful videos! I recently got an interview from HMC (once again, a huge thanks to your videos for TSA) and I would like to ask you two questions: 1. I applied for Trinity College but I received an interview from HMC instead. Does that mean that I no longer have an opportunity to interview at Trinity, or am I still under consideration until they send me an email confirming that I have been reallocated? 2. Would you be keen on having a mock interview session with me via Microsoft Teams? It would be my honour to have a discussion with you about interesting problems, and I believe it would also be good content for the channel as I think that I am a better representative of the viewers (most applicants would not have gone through a foundation year, hence most of our thought processes would not be as polished as the gentleman featured in this video)? Hi, thanks for your message. Congratulations on securing an interview! 1. If you’ve been reallocated to HMC, it most likely means that Trinity were over subscribed and are unlikely to be able to interview you. This is not for definite, but likely. 2. It’s a kind offer, but I’m not sure this would be fair to others just before the admissions period. Best of luck!

I really enjoyed this interview , what I done was answer them myself. Hypothetically would recalling about emotivism as an impulsive emotional response to disapprove or approve those political claims . I would have argued that humour allows room for criticism as we would questions why these political guidelines are held Humorous . Arguably it would allow more political diplomatic solutions . Insofar to a strict view that restricts improvement of political guidelines However the extent as to being held morally accountable is when it undermines the potential success of politics . And also the dangers of not recognising the potential outbreaks from a condescending tone of humour . I’m also looking forward to applying to the foundation course but please answer this and evaluate my thinking thank you .

Questions are not usually based on what you have submitted, unless you're applying for English or History and have submitted some essays in advance. Best to find some academic journal articles on topics of interest to you. Stretch yourself by reading at an undergrad level. But think critically -- what are the strengths and weaknesses of the paper?

assuming you're good on your personal statement stuff, maybe just clarify your thoughts on a few key topics in each subject. For instance, in philosophy have a basic understanding of free will, mind body problem, ethics.

Do you need to present just the A-Levels that you take or do you also need to presents GCSE grades? (Since many of us international students doesn’t have basic informations in our home country) 2. Does high performers common in interviews or it’s pretty rare among the people that was shortlisted?

Hi there, thanks for your comment! If you don't have GCSEs then you don't need to report these. Most important are high school qualifications. If you have middle school qualifications to report, these can be useful as well. Interviewees usually perform very well. It is difficult to decide between the candidates.

Hi there, huge congratulations on securing an interview! That's a massive achievement. No, being invited to a second college interview does not mean that your first college will not take you. It can actually mean about four different scenarios, so just go with the flow! All best.

No, we don't test knowledge in PPE interviews. Partly because a fair number of applicants have never studied P, P, or E before. We'll give you all the information needed to form an argument. Thanks for your comment.

@@sambarlow9722 it's difficult to say how often personal statements are utilised in interviews, because it varies from college to college and from interviewer to interviewer. Generally speaking, it is not that common for personal statements to be used in an Oxford interview. if they do ask you about something from your personal statement it will be in regards to where you have expressed a personal opinion. There it would seem to be fair game for the interviewers to find out more about your opinions on something you've read.

Secondly I would like to apply for PPE but I do not have any essay based A levels(I do Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science). They are not automatically accepted, they have to apply for the undergraduate degree at Oxford whilst on the foundation year. The students receive a lot of support in preparing the application, and I don't know of anyone that has failed to obtain a place.

I'm watching all of these videos whilst knowing that Oxford is out of reach. I have received my A'Level Results and they exceed the entry criteria for PPE but my GCSE grades are terribly average. Is there any point in applying or would I be getting my hopes up for no reason?

A-levels count for much more than GCSEs. We don’t in fact have any set tariff for GCSEs when it comes to PPE. There may well be good reasons why your GCSEs were not as strong as your A-levels, which we can also take into consideration. In short, you can absolutely apply if you have the required A-levels. Please watch my videos on the TSA, as this is one of the best predictors of admissions success.

You can pick any subjects you like. It is recommended that you have maths and an essay-writing subject, like history. The interview would usually last longer, so I can’t say precisely what the score would be. Also the marks we use would be barely comprehensible without context. But it’s a very strong performance because it’s independent minded, clear, and enthusiastic.

Do you think I should apply next year ( currently in year 12)? For GCSEs I got 4,5,5,6-5,6,6,7,7 and my uni admissions teacher told me I shouldn’t bother even if I do get good enough predicted grades next year. Its really dependant on your aptitude for maths. Your A level choice is not reflective of a typical applicant, but that’s not too much of an issue. It might be worth taking AS maths if possible.

@@orepharus unfortunately for the economics subject within PPE it won’t give you a broad enough basis in the methodology of how successful applicants answer the bigger questions. AS maths is big step up from both GCSE and Core maths, Core maths is useful for everyday, while the AS provides a deeper level of mathematics that can be applicable not just conceptually but psychologically, by forming the pathways in which many Oxford students think. However, mathematics is not a required - it’s simply “recommended”. There are support systems in place for those that may struggle, and there is the option after one year to drop a subject (most either choose economics or the philosophy aspect). All in all, don’t worry to much about the mathematics. Bare in mind that most successful applicants have attained an AS or higher, but at Oxford it’s also recommended for you not to draw comparisons with other people, chiefly because the admissions body will make their decision on you as an individual not by pools of broad data.
