I think the problem is she’s used to doing 25%, which is completely fine when you’re in a group and when you need a little rest you have others to pick up from where you left off. But she is now a solo artist with no experience of holding full control 100% of the time. She’s trying to do what Little Mix did (full choreo, sing live) but on her own, and it’s A LOT to just transition seamlessly. Little Mix works because there’s 4 (now 3 obvi) insanely talented girlies and they each can have their time to shine while taking img it slower when someone else does. I feel bad for her, but at the same time - i lost a lot of respect for her for the way she handled going solo and all the shit that happened between her, Nicki and Leigh.

@@victoriarooks784 I don’t think so. You have to remember Jesy’s initial reason for leaving the band was because of mental health. And then out of no where she starts slowly letting people know that she actually left to go solo (she was basically showing it without saying it at first). The girls are now on a break and I think this has been planned for a while, taking into consideration the contracts and things they had to plan to finish first before announcing the break. If Jesy would have waited, she too could have done her solo stuff but she didn’t wait because she led her departure under the impression that it was for her mental health not to go solo. Not to mention the girls solo stuff is just clothing lines, acting, makeup, advocation and stuff like that. I haven’t heard any solo singing projects in the works for either of them…YET.

I feel like Jesy could’ve had a strong solo career if things would’ve played out differently, let me explain. She left little mix a year ago because of her mental health and that she needed to take a break but then almost immediately after leaving she announces she’s working on new music. So mixers were already starting to be skeptical of her. Next, she says in interviews how she was performing songs she didn’t want to preform when the other girls had said multiple times in interviews that they record songs they want to record. I know the music industry is not that black and white when it comes to what songs they record and release but a lot of little mix songs came from Leigh and Jade writing the music. So mixers then took offense to these statements. This is where more mixers started to not support her. Then the drama about blackfishing came out. This was the final straw for A LOT of mixers since Nicki and Jesy went on Instagram live and publicly dissed Leigh. Jesy sat there and let Nicki tear into Leigh for “allegedly fake” ( they are fake) dms. The same Jesy that said that Leigh and the other girls were her sisters, was now letting a bigger celebrity tear into them without saying a word. Here is where she lost a lot of her supporters which in my opinion costed her a big part of her solo career. Mixers love the girls to death and were crying so much a year ago when Jesy left the group, but if you look around online now most mixers are happy Jesy left the group. I feel like if she would’ve actually been more truthful from the beginning, had a better public falling out with the other members, and showed a bit more authenticity then she would’ve had a great solo career. Mixers would’ve supported her to death just like they’re planning on supporting the other girls once they go on hiatus. At this point she is gonna have to do a lot of damage control if she wants to be successful as a solo artist. But that’s just my opinion 🤷🏽♀️☕️

Yes, this is it. Not enough impact was made with the song to be honest. And I don't think she's made a big impact as an solo artist either. It's like if you were to go to a BTS concert. "they're like my sisters" she said! the literal FIRST THING she said on her promo video was "i'm doing the music i always wanted to do"?? and then her entire campaign was "i don't want to be on a song i don't like, i want to write my songs..." implying than the group didn't do all of that?? (they do but jesy wasn't in the studio writing it was the other 3 girls)! and then the blackfishing accusation went more "public"! it was always a discussion in the fandom (mostly from black fans) and they were always shut down by other mixers (mostly white) using the "odd one out" documentary as an excuse (honestly, everyone was careful with jesy after her documentary and how we learned about her struggles)! imo the girls had the same thoughts, it is said that they talked to her at the sweet melody mv shoot about the blackfishing issue. maybe they could have done it sooner but leigh said she finally is aware about way more black issues since 2019 + with jesy's past and her relationship with her body, i would kinda understand how they would be reticent saying anything about her appearance.. anyway.. i really thought she was clueless about these issues but her talking about it in an interview and the news about the girls confronting her prior to her exit, shows that she knew about it and really didn't care! then the ig live mess with nicki where she mocked leigh?? her "sister"?? she really loved that "sister" when she was promoted her single and talking about them left and right! then her refusing to apologize for any of these issues + that weak ass song + performance really is a no returning point for me! i wish her well, REALLY! she's talented, i used to love her so much and i still believe she can do good music, but she prefers to portray a fake persona and used these controversies to get promo so... bye bye jesy nelson

I honestly think that Jesy has the talent to make it in the solo industry but she definetly has to clean up her act for her to be successful. Her actions have drastically divided her own fandom and created mixed feelings in terms of supporting her. I think that if she acknowledges what she did and apologized for it, because she did offend a lot of people, only then can she move forward in a positive light. If not then I do see her solo career not taking off as well as it could. Also I think Jesy needs time to find her own identity, I don’t think this baddie attitude is the right concept she should be pushing at the moment (especially because of the blackfishing problem) and it’s not really giving. Now that she is a solo artist she has to re-evaluate her strengths and weakness because all eyes will be just on her now. For example, if she is going to be doing more R&B songs that are more vocally demanding, then the choreo should be lighter. Just some of my opinions, as a long time mixer it’s been hard to support her after not taking responsibility for her blackfishing and the issues with Leigh-Anne. I want the best for her but she has to change in order for her to get back on her feet.

The worse kind of promo tho, many celebrities and artist rely on being polarizing. But at the end of the day you have to be able to keep the people's attention. Moreover using blackfishing as a selling point for your music career was never going to inspire longevity. In fact it is in partial why she's struggling now. And while you might not mean it this way your comment is indicative of her overall problem. The whole Nicki situation threw me off and made me upset but being a Little mix fan for years, I know this girl is talented but I don't think she has a true identity yet when it comes to her as a solo artist. Hopefully whatever she does next shows off more of her vocals cuz at this point, she's doing more dancing than singing on stage. Quick edit - I don't think her performance was horrible, she has potential as a great performer. I think it was just a bit too much for the kind of song plus all the controversy. Hopefully she starts fresh after this instead of riding the controversy, that jacket she wore to the show was tacky honestly.

So here's my opinion (as a Little Mix listener/stan who tries being objective with... this): First of all, the lypsinc brings it ALL DOWN while being unnecessary. Especially when the choreo isn't Beyoncé and the vocals aren't Mariah. Also, the stylist did really hate her and it shows. Although she did what was needed (the effects, the attitude, etc.), It felt forced and awkard. The tongue, the failed attemp to hype the crowd, etc. Also, doing the bare minimum when Nicki's verse came... It was a mess. But she can improve (but her career won't take off due to the controversy).

@@victoriarooks784 It's not just about having a sunkissed glow to her skin ... it's the collective actions of having dark brown skin with heavy contouring, wearing various typically black hairstyles from braids to type 3 curly hair, wearing grills, having a 'blaccent', wearing a bandana, and then the song is literally about fetishizing black men who are 'so hood' and 'bad boys'. Whether or not you think this is blackfishing is fine, but it is 1000% undeniable that at the very least Jesy has deliberately been exoticising herself to seem 'not white' - a lot of influencers do it nowadays, by trying to look bi-racial or mixed, or light skinned, or maybe not black, but certainly middle eastern or latinx

Performing solo is very different to performing as a group. If this performance had 3 other members on stage with her, it would be so much more powerful and cohesive. The formula Jessy has been accustomed to for the past decade in terms of stage performance, doesn't work as a solo artist. Hopefully, the reception to this performance will give her that perspective.

The problem is Jesy didn’t have a second single to counter promote the negative reactions to Bad Boy. She still promoting the song despite the negative implications it has. Honestly there’s no reason to care for her when she doubled down on denying she ever culturally appropriated and and lost all respect from her fans. She didn’t even respect her own ex band mates not to let bullying rumors float around but she let that happen and used it to feed into her career and that wasn’t right. She left a lot of things mishandled and I just can’t support her despite her talent. You can be talented all you want to but if you can’t even respect your audience how else you gone sell records??

I have not watched the video yet but let me give my opinion. I actually don't think the performance is as bad as everyone is making it out to be. She gave stage presence, choreo and energy. The tongue? She has always done it, but yes, in this performance it was overused probably. I liked her ad libs during the last chorus. She lip synced the chorus, a lot of people do that when dancing, who cares. I was one of the first people to criticise Jesy for her blackfishing, even before she left the group but I really think people are being way too harsh with this performance. I see no constructive criticism online, only trolls and hate. And people mentioning her face and bullying her on her looks disgusts me, she almost killed herself for that years ago. The internet gave a lot of yall too much audacity

The performance wasn’t amazing but people are going too far with the trolling. And I’m talking about comments about her natural face, those are unacceptable. People comparing her to a monster etc is just straight up bullying.

While I am not one to personally insult her, I do admit I am guilty at laughing at videos like this. I don't think their thoughts are completely wrong, everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. They are entertainers, which means they perform for us. Therefore we should be able to voice our opinions on what they put out there. However, I agree that it should be more constructive otherwise it's just mean. I honestly don't think people mind being mean though because she has not acknowledged or apologized for her blackfishing. Right or wrong, humans often think it's alright to be mean or harmful to those who they deem unworthy of kindness. It's just how some of us are. I hope she continues to have thick skin because if she never apologizes or stops, it will only get worse.

Because the song is just tired I think I'm just ready for what's next. This performance I get she went for big, bold headline type statement theme but just a tad TOOOO much, but for me she served stage presence, portions of good choreography and pleased she did the verses live (although that 1st verse structure vocally a no & barely understand bits of lyrics). Drop that tag Nicki gave as being a UK Baddie expeditiously because the try hard to uphold that tag is resonating stiff and wrong visually when performing. More layers to unlock, so still interested in Jesy's journey but it's very thin! As much as people want to nit pick at Jesy, she at least did way more than most the performers at the event.

My take on it is that Jesy is really talented and smart. She is trending which is a really good thing for her. If she really wanna blow up quick she might choose this ‘easy’ path that relie on being controversial. Look at Maddison beer and Addison Rae, they used being trendy and even hated on for their own advantages and they are quite solid now. If Jesy quit Little Mix properly and didn’t do all that messy shit, the little mix fandom which is HUGE would have supported her ass. She was my favorite member from Little Mix and I was quite sad when she left but I truly lost a lot of respect and admiration for her. The blackfishing, the attacking Leigh anne and being seen with her ex and the ignorance truly made me lose her.

i think out of all the girls, jade has the most potential to be big. i know perrie is known for having the voice and has always been the most popular, but i think jade has “it” (i think all three of them do, but especially jade) she has the best stage presence, her (and leigh anne) voice is the most radio friendly, she’s funny and shows her personality the most which makes her likable and relatable. also i think perrie and leigh anne being mothers now, they’re going to stay in london, but i think jade will try to break out in america and she will succeed. she’s said time and time again that she regrets not staying and working in america to become more global, and i don’t think she’s going to mess that up when she goes solo. i would’ve liked to see more of them as a trio, a greatest hits album with a few new songs isn’t the same as a last album. and i wish if this were their last tour they would come to america before taking a break.
