yeah will do. i may have to re-record that one. That was done early days with the channel when i was figuring things out and didn't have a lapel mic, like I do now.

you are a talented guitarist but your guitar lessons are incomplete for a beginner like me, you don't identify the fret and string positions in the lesson
@billv68327 ай бұрын
It's funny I'm the one guitarist in the band that uses a capo. I do about 4-5 songs a night on a capo to match the song better. This is one song right away I thought it sounds like he's using a capo on the 3rd fret lol. Lot of country songs use a capo actually

IIRC Steve Miller was using an Ibanez Iceman with a triple coil pickup around the time he recorded the "fly Like an Eagle" LP. The selector switch had a setting that sounds very much like a Strat. Greta lesson as always!

you're right - I just checked out a demo of one on YT, wild. Crazy triple pickup configuration, but yeah totally sounds stratty/tele in it's own way. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnixZYqjn5p4aq8

I think to do it right with just one guitar, an octave pedal and an always on chorus pedal might get close.

One more comment now that you got me on a Steve Miller kick. Fact: their drummer did not record with a click. Fact: he should have :)

I'm a beginner who picked up an acoustic at the start of the pandemic. Love Steve Miller and your lesson(s). I'm not adept at jumping up the fret board to play the octave, but the basic riff and the three chords are music to my ears. I use a capo frequently as I like to sing with my songs. Thank you so much.

This was excellent! I need to re-learn this one now. I’ve always done it without a capo, but I agree with you that if you’re working too hard, that’s not how it was done. I need to remind myself of that more often.

Never seen video of him playing it with a capo back then live, but also NONE of the old live clips sound anything like the record other than his voice.

Seems likely he was just turning a low wattage amp up to get the overdrive rather than a pedal, right? I can get it darn close with my tweed champ about half way up.

FANTASTIC! I've watched several of these tutorials and you really nailed it. I new the song SOUNDED like a simple Blues shuffle but I couldn't figure out why it sounded so different. Loved the different guitar parts. Loved the timing of the strums, something other videos didn't seem to get right. I will be spending a lot of quality time in the future working on this, one of my favorites Thank You.

I just stumbled on a 70's Yam FG336SB at a junk shop in Scranton,set up lefty. Treble strings lower ortho so inverted Bass would touch so they cranked truss rod so action high and nobody sniffed at it as it was all a mess. (After Months Passing) I took a chance and researched to find probably neck reset candidate ($). Happened to watch KZbin to find neck truss is adjustable on this model,and southpaw had turned it other direction. I turned it opposite direction with allen wrench,and this Rig is my new personal favorite..(Love the neck and tone) Action MINTY LOW. Web site said August 30th 1978 manufacturing date. by serial number. Steve Miller 92' Shoreline amp theatre rendition on Gibson Hummingbird(YAMAHA FG336SB they're comparable answer),I figured it an omen I finally perfect my Rendition,I have a no cheese rule and I am not a good player (basic) The riff he strums through on acoustic Rendition (Must see if you have an acoustic) strums through second part of riff.. I have been trying to duplicate it with this 70's FG having that same trouncing tone..(They trounce instead of the A shuffle) love it,wish I could post the link . Norton Buffalo exceptionally great backing vocal,but Steve's Acoustic riff is pretty neat as well.. Gives it a catchy raw motif.. I have always had issues adding that song to my list (due to riff)and is sad because one of my best vocals is the studio rendition. Talented he amended riff for acoustic in that rendition to give it that same roll the electric riff has. Your tutorial will give me sprucing options..You are a good player...Salute...

@@aldenunion no worries - don't need to delete, all good. I saw a lot of concerts at the Shoreline ampitheater in 80s and 90s when I lived down there. This looked like it might have been part of one of the Bridge School benefit shows maybe. I saw a couple of those, may have seen this one too, so many can't really remember for sure :-)

Sorry I'm on a roll. Now listening to Jungle Love that's another one that sounds like it's got a capo. What do you think?
@12footchain2 жыл бұрын
Could be. I'm also pretty sure its in some form of slide/open tuning. Will investigate
@Bob.Silverstein2 жыл бұрын
@@12footchain according to Wikipedia "Greg Douglass' guitar is tuned to 'Open A' (which is, low to high, E-A-E-A-C#-E). It is the only guitar on the studio recording." Must be using some light gauge strings for that tuning or else capo on 2nd fret with open G tuning.
@12footchain2 жыл бұрын
@@Bob.Silverstein yep, all over that - just figured out that tuning the other day, am going to be doing a lesson on it. Super cool how it all comes together in that tuning.
