I just watched the original version and honestly I think this one is much better. The music goes with the scene. The original kinda sounds like carnival music. I actually had to turn it off and come watch this one.

I like it. First, Yasuaki Kurata says he needs to warm up. Jet Li goes "WTF?" Then after he tells Jet Li he is ready, Kurata starts off with epic kicks.

Saying that the master had to adapt is your personal opinion. Before the wind it was almost even, after the blindfolds it was almost even. It could have gone either way. The only thing that defined it was the killing blow which was what the master was trying to teach - what the Japanese General would do to Jet. Jet wasn't ready for this yet as the movie showed us...until master showed up.

It is pretty well done. I have seen many martial-arts-movie in which the protagonists are supermen who can even see without eyes, even if they are blind, they are able to fight perfectly because they are such superhuman. But not that movie. It is way better and comprehensible. Besides, I like fights with honor.

lostn65 They were fighting because the Japanese were trying to best the Chinese, calling them 'sick men of Asia' also better Chen Zhen fought Funakoshi than General Fujita as he would not have been mentally prepared to win until after this fight where he learned the lesson about adaptability. Storiewise, this ties in as a nice test of honour where the parent or guardian gives their blessing for an outsider to marry a relative.

kuruptzZz - Actually Yasuaki won; if this video showed a little more after the fight, Jet Li praises Yasuaki's fighting talent and asks how he won. Yasuaki responds that he won because he adapted to Jet Li (e.g. Yasuaki mimicking Li's boxing style) and compliments Jet Li as being 'so young and yet so skillful".

Surprisingly, Jet Li is defeated in this fight. The fight is stopped when Yasuaki has him by the throat because of their mutual respect for each other. He explains to Jet he won by adapting to his style, which Jet Li then uses himself (adapting his opponent's style) to defeat the General in the final battle of the movie.
