I’ve flown JB Mint to AMS and DUB several times and used lounges in T4, then took the AirTrain to T5 for those flights. As long as one has a boarding pass (same day outbound) security in any other terminal will permit entry airside. Of course, most lounges now have a max 3-hour to flight time entry rule unless transiting. Both Priority Pass/Dragon Lounges tend to fill thus restricting entry. I’ve used the Amex Centurion lounge. Of course, this requires returning to T5 so allow an extra half-hour prior to boarding.

I wonder if, with the A321XLR, JetBlue would ever launch transpacific flights (maybe from either LA or Seattle).
@PatrickSheaAviation4 ай бұрын
Idk if they’d be able to pull that off. The shortest ones are still 9-10 hours. They’d have to have stops in Alaska most likely (something Northern Pacific looked into but couldn’t find profits)
@jwil42864 ай бұрын
@@PatrickSheaAviation per Simple Flying, the XLR can make it to much of the landmass of North America with an optimal configuration, which would mean that Seattle is well within that range. But whether an optimal load (such as what JetBlue would want to do a flight) could make it between Tokyo and Seattle might be pushing it. Maybe someone could make it to Anchorage (I could see JAL doing this due to their partnership with Alaska Airlines) if Seattle wouldn’t work, but if Anchorage is as close as you can get, I doubt JetBlue will go transpacific.

Oh yeah, one thing about narrow body versus wide body for long haul flights, I notice that with the geeks who do Internet postings, they are surprisingly welcoming to narrow body flights, Nothing surprising really - just they like the lack of crowds waiting to board and to actually get on the plane. The experience on board is apparently either similar or not bad. You need leg room, food and entertainment, and other than that it doesn't matter. Maybe a concern for wide body operators!
@PatrickSheaAviation2 ай бұрын
Definitely an interesting challenge for aviation. Although it seems like more carriers are ordering these long haul narrow bodies since they can make profits with much less loads
@andrewmcilwraith19972 ай бұрын
@@PatrickSheaAviation But surely the staff ratio is much the same - except in the cockpit where you still need two people - so the costs can't be much different. Especially if, like jetBlue you offer so much as a bit of the product. I think small operators are piggy-backing on the big ones for now. If the big ones pull out, we'll see if the narrow bodies can take the load. They can obviously match the demand better because the unit - i.e. the plane - is small and they can regulate their frequency to suit demand easier than the big boys, but I'm not convinced that they have much to offer on main routes. Still, if it means more routes between smaller airports I'm all for it. I have to say, if every operator provided what you showed on jetBlue, the big boys should be worried! Thanks!
