I took the coffee press with me in my jetboil on a hiking trip out to Montana a few years ago and the coffee grounds got all in the water when I pushed it down. I never knew I had it on backwards until just reading this post! Just tried it the right way and barely any grounds. Imagine that! All this time I had no idea. Thank you Quentin for pointing that out.
@williepierce39335 жыл бұрын
@Paul Taylor, a good solution to getting grounds in your coffee is to avoid buying ground coffee. It's too fine for the press. Instead, buy the whole beans, and then ground them coarsely. The stores that sell whole beans usually have grinders. Just turn the knob to "coarse", and then grind away. Because the grains are much bigger, you need to let the coffee soak longer. But they won't get past the press.

Dude I’m the French Press Coffee master and was excited watching you use the Jetboil. I just got mine today and can’t wait to try it out. If you want delicious coffee, you need to add about 6 of the spoonfuls you used. You only used two and the color was like weak tea rather than coffee. I French Press my coffee every morning and use three scoops of my scoop spoon which looks to hold about twice as much as your little teaspoon. Give it a try.
@LukesHomeTube6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Herbiesnerd! I’m in total agreement. There was an edit where I didn’t show all of the spoonfuls I used, to keep the video shorter. I actually added about 6 spoonfuls. You are so right. That amount makes perfect coffee ☕️!

All our brush fire engines have jetboils and at 5:00 AM after sleeping in the cab all night after fighting a fire the entire day before, it was amazing to get coffee going in the middle of nowhere. I tried everything to prevent having coffee grounds get past the press, and into my coffee. And nothing worked. Until my genius friend (no, I'm not kidding) took one look, and suggested that I try buying whole beans, rather than ground, so I could grind my coffee coarse. And it worked! But when the grounds are coarse (much bigger), you have to let them soak longer. But that's a small price to pay for not having grains in my coffee cup.

Hey, Luke. Thanks for posting this video. I was in my local REI tonight, sifting through the various types of backpacking (actually to be used for bikepacking and road cycle touring) stoves and systems and decided that I needed to do my homework before investing in either. After a couple hours of research, I have been favoring the Jetboil Flash, and with this coffee press, I'm now sold for sure. LOL! It's also got some very nice features, like the faster boil time, the system seems to be very well thought out and well constructed, and now with this cool coffee press feature ... it's all looks awesome. Thanks again, man. Very helpful info.

Oh my a campground for tents instead of RVs. How lovely. Is the jetboil pot portion made out of stainless steel or aluminum? How much boiling time to you get out of one canister? And where can you buy the canisters, anywhere like Walmart? Thanks for the video. I've been debating whether to buy this item.
@LukesHomeTube4 жыл бұрын
There were mainly tent around us but I think they have some RVs too. It was at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. From what I found, the pot is made up of Aluminum with a stainless steel burner. It all depends on the fuel size in the canister. But i think the smaller 250g cans last around 70 minutes of cooking time. Which should be about 7 days depending on the amount of use. Yes, you can buy the fuel canisters almost anywhere with outdoor equipment (REI, walmart, amazon, etc.). I really like it because i just need quick hot water. It does a great job achieving that goal.

Luke, great vid. love pressed coffee. I have used my original Jetboil and their press for many years on Motorcycle camping trips. The major bummer about the press is the mess at the end to clean up. Plus after using the cup many times, it became stained and my wife said stuff we cooked in it had coffee flavor. I eventually purchased a spare cup for cooking. Then last year or so I came across the MyJo by Presto. Its cheap, uses K cups and no mess. I think if you try it, you may find it one of the best camp coffee combinations there is! You have a cool channel! I subbed.

Firat off you have your coffee filter screen upside down. You said only steep for 1 minute, you have to for at least 4 minutes. My experience is if using 2 cups or a half liter of water you'll want to use 40 grams of coarse coffee grinds. Just saying a spoonful or 6 spoonfuls could be different for anyone. Your coffee will be so good.
