I’m a red Sox fan and miss Jeter a ton. Late 90’s and the early 2000’s to 2013ish, were such great years. NYC had an aura in the air. Boston had the same feeling. Papi is gone, Jeter is gone, man those were the days.

Just came here after Miggy’s 3000th! Man I miss the days of Jeter… I grew up watching him play. A true icon and highlight of my childhood was idolizing Jeter. I was born in 95’ when Jeter had his debut in the bigs. Crazy how fast time goes. Sad but happy I got to witness a true hero in my heart.

He is certainly one of the most overrated players of all time. Hitting wise he was great. But definitely he is the worst defensive shortstop of all time. Even though he made a few spectacular plays such as the jump throw and when he came out of nowhere to toss the baseball to Posada. But if you look at his the most accurate defensive static which is Defensive Runs Saved his DRS is -165 and the average DRS is 0.

I have been to playoff games, World Series games. Mariano’s last game. To this day, Jeters 3000th hit was the loudest I have ever heard the new stadium get. I try explaining to people, it was so loud it was like silent. Like your ears could not take the noise so they block it out almost like a shock. Something I will never forget. And I was in left field so had a great view of the ball land.

Why wasn't Jeter's mother there that day ?? I saw his father in this clip. His mother usually is there if his father is there and Jeter's sister. But, I did not see his mom here. 5 for 5, number 3000 was a homer and a triple from the cycle - I'll never forget that day. One of the greatest Yankees of all time - Could make a strong argument that he's the greatest honestly. Plus, one of the game's greatest ambassadors. He is the one Yankee who got cheers and standing ovations literally everywhere he went including Fenway Park - That's saying something. The definition of professionalism, humility, and class - The perfect role model for young Yankee and baseball fans to look up - I miss these days so much and I'm wearing a Jeter Yankee shirt with his name and #2 on the back as I type this :)

I'm a Yankees fan, but Derek Jeter wasn't the first player to hit the 3,000 hit with a home run. Who was the first was Wade Boggs, in 1999, in a Tampa Bay uniform. The third one to do it, and in a Yankee uniform, was Alex Rodríguez, in 2015. Yes, Jeter was the first Yankee to do it. The great thing about that day for Jeter was that, in addition to landing his 3,000 hit, he went 5 for 5.
