Got to see Jethro twice. Had tickets to see him again ut the show was cancelled due to lockdown & sadly we know the rest. Will always remember a moment at one show sat behind a lovely elderly couple both in fits of laughter. The husband wiping tears from his eyes with a handkerchief. His wife asked what Jethro had said. When he had composed himself he replied "I have no idea" to which they both collapsed into laughter. Jethro as we say had funny bones. A lovely man & true comedy genius. Great show you two. It really is the perfect tonic. Keep on laughing

I watched one of his shows near where i live in Cornwall a few years before he died. I nearly wet myself before he even said a word. He walked on stage almost naked, wearing just a nappy (diaper) with a pint of beer in his hand. His funeral at Truro Cathedral in Cornwall was amazing with a few of his TV celebrity comedian friends that he worked with over the years giving eulogies.

Jethro joke for you= Me and Denzil got pissed at lunchtime and as we were walking home we passed a fun fair on the green. We went in and were walking round and came across the bucking bronco stand. There was a man standing there shouting I will give anyone 10 bucks that can stay on the bucking bronco for five minutes, Denzil said i can do that, I said no Denzil, it's too dangerous. He said let me up there Jethro. I'll be ok so up he went. The man said now remember, stay on the bucking bronco and you get 10 bucks for 5 minutes. Denzil got on and the man said are you ready, Denzil said let her go and the bronco could not throw him off and the man gave him the 10bucks. Denzil came down the steps and I said Denzil how did you learn to ride a bucking bronco like that? He said don't you remember last winter when the missus had whooping cough!!!

Years and years (and years) ago, I got hold of a bootleg Jethro cassette from someone who must have been dealing them - probably at school (so that might help with your nephew dilemma). Of all the brilliant, blue, hilarious gags, for some reason this is the one that tickled me most. I think there's a video of it somewhere - or a recording - on KZbin, but here's a very rough version of it (imagine Jethro's voice): "Ed and Ted were out walking in the woods one afternoon when they came across a large hole. Peering in they realised that they could not see the bottom. "I wonder how deep it is?" Ed said. Ted said: "Drop a stone in and count the seconds before it hits the bottom - that'll be how many feet deep it is." So they look around for a suitable stone and drop it into the hole. Nothing happened. There was no sound at all. Ted said: "Try something bigger." So Ed looked around and found a large rock and threw that into the hole, but there was still no sound. Ted said: "Try something really big." Ed looked around and came across a heavy railway sleeper, which he dragged to the hole and dropped it in. Still nothing. As they craned over the hole there was a furious rustling in the undergrowth behind them. The two men turned in time just to see a goat charging directly towards them. They hit the ground as the goat launched itself over them and disappeared down the hole. "That was close", said Ed. A little while later, on their way home they met a farmer wandering around the wood. He seemed quite upset and came right up to the two men and asked if either of them had seen a goat that day. "We have as a matter of fact," said Ted. "We damn near were knocked into the deepest hole I ever saw by a rampaging crazy goat. Lucky for us we got out of the way in time and the goat fell into the hole instead." "Well that couldn't have been my goat," the farmer said. "I tied mine to a railway sleeper."

I remember a long time ago asking you to play Jethro. One of my favourite of his was when he went see his mate Billy. Billy worked at the local mill. Jethro went there and they told him that Billy had gone to Burnley to get cotton, try next week. He went next week and the same happened. Jethro tried for the next two weeks still the same. The next week he asked again and they told him that Billy died last week and they buried him down the local cemetery. Jethro went to the grave and he saw written on the gravestone. ‘Here lies Billy gone but not for cotton’. Boom boom. 😂😂
