I ordered both, having got back into vinyl last year. This vinyl set looks amazing. I have all the CD books and have slowly been catching up on vinyl although annoyingly “Minstrel In The Gallery” eludes me as I don’t want to pay second hand rip off prices of over £150 for it. Very glad to have this vinyl set on its way as it looks superb. People complaining about the price should go order Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side Of The Moon” 50th anniversary at £230 or the upcoming “Who’s Next” 50th Anniversary edition which isn’t even vinyl but sells for a whoppingly ridiculous and greedy £275!!!!!

Barry, three years back, my wife gave me a 60th Birthday present of a Sony PS LX310BT vinyl record player. It reopened for me a whole world of vinyl that I’d almost completely forgotten about, since cd’s were were first introduced nearly 40 or so years ago. The last three years have seen me really enjoying sourcing good quality old second hand records (“The Broadsword and the Beast” being a case in point 😁. Indeed just one of many….). I have thoroughly enjoyed digging through thousands of second hand (perhaps even third or fourth hand) vinyl records in record shops and record fairs and antique and curio shops and also lots of online sites where private citizens can trade in vinyl. I’ve also picked up many new albums on vinyl, by lots of artists including Steve Hackett, IQ, Big Big Train, Transatlantic etc as well as lots of remixed remastered reissues of older albums - Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, King Crimson, Steely Dan, Rory Gallagher, YES….. The list could go on and on….. What a marvellous three years it has been, particularly over the earlier, but long, Covid 19 period. And all because I was presented with an inexpensive but top quality record player that I can alternatively connect up to either a modern Bluetooth speaker or to more traditional wired speakers. Now I haven’t in the slightest moved away at all from cd’s. I still browse the many excellent quality second hand cd offerings that are to be found out there. So if perchance you find that you can stretch to it at any point, I’d recommend that you invest anything between 150 to about 300 at the very most (no need at all to break the bank) and get yourself a really decent quality record player (steer clear of all in one systems). Sony, Audio Technica, Pro-ject, Fluance…… are just some top quality brand names. You won’t regret it.

Broadsword was a mind blowing album to me as a teenager. I haven’t ordered but probably will soon. I see burning shed is selling the CD package at 20 quid cheaper than Amazon.

What’s bizarre is that they are also selling a special bundle of cd and vinyl but the bundle costs 1p more than if the items are bought separately. I know it’s only a penny, but what is the point of selling a bundle at a higher price than if bought individually?! :-S

The Vinyl set is lovely and can confirm that it does sound amazing. Played each record a few times even dropped one on the floor(not my fault it was the king goblin ale that made me do it), luckily it is still fine. Not got the CD set yet though might have to 'buy' that one.

Nice, but I will stick to the CD set to complete the run. The UK tour programme was a smaller A4 size with a white cover labelled Production Manual . It contained from memory, sample contracts sent to venues.

As someone whose Tull interest started and ended with “Live Bursting Out” I’ve recently considered getting up to speed probably via “Thick As A Brick” or the more familiar “Songs From The Wood” however your unboxing might well have accelerated this process due entirely to the stunning artwork which is on a par with Jon Anderson’s “Olias Of Sunhillow”. So “Broadsword” here we go, if only for the beautiful artwork which has me salivating like a Pavlov dog.

Am undecided. I don't tend to go for this type of repackaging of much loved old albums that I've purchased at least twice already. Also, 8 of the tracks not included on the original vinyl were included in the 2005 remaster of B&B. They've also missed a trick with the lack of a contemporary concert dvd. Will Steven Wilson remix Underwraps and put real drums on?? Perhaps a question for IA, Barry? Cheerio!

I have the original vinyl record and the cover, inner sleeve, and blue Chrysalis label all look the same from what I can see in the video. I have 13 Tull albums on vinyl, everything else is CD and DVD.

The original album was released in April 1982 so its the 41st anniversary box set unless the boxed set was released last year.

I wouldn't say "obsession". When I personally think about who the best musicians are in popular music - since Elvis Presley anyway - Tull come high on the list. There have been many Luminaries in the band. And a unique approach.

The sound quality of these vinyl releases is fantastic. Do yourself a favour, even a budget Pro-Ject or Sony turntable will sound great. It would drive me crazy not to be able to play this magnificent vinyl set! I pre-ordered both box sets as I do love surround sound as well.

Tull at the hight of their Spinal Tap phase. I think that the CD boxed set is a better value if you are into this period of Tull. At least you can skip through the dross to the good stuff with the bonus material. The tracks that made the album made the album for a reason but if you are into vinyl and want the Wilson remix, buy the album on its own and save a lot of money.

Being a big Tull fan since their debut album up until 1976's "Old to Rock 'n' Roll,Too Young To Die",that's when I was getting into other styles of music such as UFO so I never heard(or bought) anything by Jethro Tull afterwards.

can we not have the option of a vinyl NON BOXSET without all the paraphernalia which makes the price almost unaffordable. Amazon are charging £90.93 excl P & P and i'm sure i'm not alone in thinking why can't they just provide the option of the album as intended. Their earlier anniversary releases were much more affordable. At least Robin Trower's 'Twice Removed From Yesterday' is just £28 (for a double vinyl disc). Sorry but this reeks of corporate greed and will exclude many fans.
