Yep, Tull's front man, Ian Anderson was in great physical shape. Their shows lasted for as long as four hours. Can you imagine how good of shape you have to be in to perform with this much energy for that long?

Even though Anderson chained smoked cigarettes like a chimney. Saw a video interview with him where he lit up smoke after smoke.

Plus the lung capacity required to play a wind instrument, sing and prance around the stage at the same time.

He did say the words “locomotive breath,”right at the beginning: “In the shuffling madness Of the locomotive breath Runs the all-time loser Headlong to his death” 🔥

I grew up in a beach town south of Los Angeles -- this means that we had easy access to all sorts of concerts and other entertainment in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego -- back in the day. My brother and I went to many MANY "Tull" concerts. By the end of one of their concerts, you KNEW you had been entertained. This song, Locomotive Breath, was the absolutely-mandatory-required "last song" of the evening --- and yes.... complete with the balloons!!! By the end of the evening NO ONE was sitting down!!! Fabulous memories. When he was young, Ian Anderson was a choir boy in -- I think it was southern Scotland -- he could sing quite well, but that flute -- NO ONE has ever played a flute like he did -- he even sang WHILE playing the flute. It is also my understanding that he has written over 1,000 pieces of music. Another one of my very faves is "Broadsword." Thanks for playing this -- memories!!

JETHRO TULL, "LOCOMOTIVE BREATH", I Saw them in 1997 with the group Emmerson, Lake, and Palmer. Both bands were dynamic. More Tull, "CROSS EYED MARY", "AQUALUNG", "LIVING IN THE PAST", "THICK AS A BRICK"...

You were both saying how tiring it must be to be dancing around like that and blowing into the flute well that's why they call Ian Anderson Aqualung and Aqualung is a fantastic song too but 4 of my favorites by Jethro Tull are "My God" and "Cross-Eyed Mary" studio versions and "Dharma For One" the live version off the "Living In The Past" album and the whole "Thick As A Brick' album which is actually a concept album that's one whole song but there's just too many great ones to choose from by them really.
