i feel the same exact way!! i came here tonite to watch him because earlier this evening, i had the pleasure of meeting Martin!! he ate where i work . i wanted to wait till he finished eating, but he heard about me, and told the hostess to have me come meet him!! him and his wife were very nice. was nice complimenting and thanking a hero and music legend for his work, and knowing he appreciated it back. i let him know basically what you just wrote in your comment. anyway, cheers!!

I saw Martin and Co. at least 14 times beginning with Warchild at HersheyPark Arena in PA and he is the greatest guitarist I have ever heard, live or studio. I've seen Steve Howe bunches of times, too, along with the original Skynnard, and so many guitar bands I lost count. He is the best, period. This guy can't be touched for innovativeness (though this recording is old). I also thank the dudes who uploaded this. By the way, Martin's two or three original albums/CDs, are better than Tull.

As he himself said in a radio interview years ago, Martin Barre is NOT an underrated guitarist, it's just that most of the others are overrated.

if you hear some of the early tull, it actually sounds a little bit like sabbath~ love that sound of 60's and 70's metal~ and tull...so friggin awesomely gypsy-folk-metal-rock~

“As far as the guitar sound is concerned I know for a fact that in 1981 Mark Knopfler rang up Martin’s guitar maker and ordered some new guitars. When asked what kind of sound he wanted, he said, ‘I want the sound that Martin Barre of Jethro Tull gets’ :P
@drj6024 жыл бұрын
codexdelux I could like Knopfler hearing that. But I still can’t stand his music.

He was so raw and uninhibited back in the day. He has lost a step or two for sure.

Unfair comparison between Bunker & Barlow. Barlow was perhaps more technically gifted - certainly more of a finesse type player. Bunker on the other hand had a more powerful sound (but no less gifted). Both were (or in the case of Bunker still are) brilliant! Sadly never got to see Barlow play live but I did see Bunker at the Tull Comvention in Worcester several years back and he was out of this world.

Wow, thats some Rock and Roll indulgence there. I love JT and Martin Barrre, but it sounds more like he is tuning his guitar.

This is not a very good guitar solo ... some parts are good, but all in all it's rambling and incoherent for the most part. Barre plays well on the album parts, but I've never liked most of the playing most bands do live. Even Ian's pretentious flute solos were boring. No one stands for this kind of thing anymore, and they have all but eliminated the 30 minute drum solos they used to have at concerts. Like the song "Black Satin Dancer" on the record has some awesome inspirational guitar, but done live it sucks, it sounds nothing like the album, and sucks. This is a mess. He just plays a few recognizable lines, and people clap and then it plays more noise ... that is not talent.
