My father moved to Brazil when he was young, he said he'll never go back to Europe. He loves this country more than most locals. That being said, he warns all his parents in Italy that come visit him in Brazil to bring larger clothes because they WILL GAIN WEIGHT. It's THE foodie ultimate country. Some things you brought up Security: São Paulo is the safest capital in the country and one of the safest cities (most all others are on the state too, so it's a pretty safe location), it has crime rates similar to New York. That being said, not all country is like this, but even cities like Rio de Janeiro that are famous for being violent (and are on similar levels to Chicago tbh), are not that bad if you don't go up favelas or try to meddle with gang business. Violence in Brazil is often gang on gang or police on gang. Tattoos: Brazil is not the most tattooed country but São Paulo is the most tattooed city in the world. You'll see less tattoos the further away you go from the city. Weather: São Paulo rains everyday when is hot and get really dry in the winter. Ivana looks Brazilian: Oh yeah, to be real, both of you could pass as brazilians without much of a problem. The only real ethnicity we don't really have here is southern asians. For some reason, the Indian subcontinent never migrated here. All the rest? Plenty.

I love how you guys balance each other, Ivanka is a bit on the shy side, but she compensates being very knowledgeable about food and culture, and Steve is always getting super excited and marvels at stuff that are very day by day by locals (and he has this very cartoonish presence, especially when he gets his face very near the camera, which is funny). 15:45 A small slice of popular culture for you: São Paulo is well known amongst other Brazilians for being the state of mashed potatoes (no, really). They have mashed potatoes in hot dogs, with ceviche, in pizzas, in sandwiches, they have premade mashed potatoes mixes in super markets, they even have lists for the "best potato puree in SP" online.... But then again, what does it matter? There's healthy, there's cheap, there's delicious, and in the middle there's potatoes. Potatoes are the ultimate food group haha.

If you haven't already gone to Rio, I would suggest going to the city of Petropolis in the state of Rio, and it's only an hour's drive up to the mountains. It will be cool to see the contrast of being in the city of Rio (we're this time of year it's pretty hot), and an hour's drive you're in a mountain city, with lots of different european influences and cooler weather. I'm originally from the city of Rio, but the mountain towns and cities are my fav. 10:36 Tapioca is actually a starch extracted from the Cassava root - which is eaten in many forms in Brazil. In Asia, it's eaten most commonly in pearl form but in Brazil you can make it into a crepe :) It's flavourless like the pearl balls in bubble tea but it's good if you want gluten-free food and you can eat it savoury or sweet for breakfast or a snack - it goes really well with coffee. In the South of Brazil they actually put the tapioca pearl balls (sagu) in red wine with cinnamon and cloves and make a mulled wine called Quentão.

I just found the channel and binge-watched all videos of my home country Brazil 🇧🇷 I live in Texas (LET’S GO COWBOYS ⭐️ btw) and it is so nice to see you guys enjoying and sharing experiences from Brazil. So here it goes a few recommendations for you to make the most out of this 90 day stay. You should definitely plan to visit all five regions because they’re very distinct. SP Capital: Mercado Municipal to try our cheesy ham sandwich from Mané (the best and most traditional restaurant over there) and lots of different fruits. SP State: Holambra (It’s our little version of the Netherlands); Ubatuba (has many nice beaches) On Christmas, take a plane to the south (Porto Alegre) and spend it in Gramado. Since you’re in the southern part, enjoy 2 or 3 days in Foz do Iguaçu and check out the biggest waterfall in water volume in the world. If you’re the shopping mood, cross the border to Paraguai and buy cheaper things in Ciudad Del Est. For new year’s eve, Rio is the way to go. Spend as much time as you want in the most scenic city on Earth. When you’re done with Rio (city) you can take quick trips to Angra dos Reis/Paraty to enjoy absolutely stunning beaches. After that, in the Northeastern part of Brazil, there’re many states and many places to go but the must-see in order of priority is: Maragogi (state of Alagoas); Lençóis Maranhenses (state of Maranhão); Jericoacoara (state of Ceará): Chapada Diamantina (our green Grand Canyon in the state of Bahia) and Salvador (state of Bahia). After all incredible beach & heat experience in the Northeast, heading west you’ll get to the North region, heart of the largest rainforest in the world, the Amazon (Amazon is ours not yours, Bezos lol). Manaus, Belém and Alter do Chão are three amazing cities you’ll get to experience a lot of the forest. Still in the North, if you have time, make sure to go to Jalapão (stunning place in the state of Tocantins). Alrighty, time to head south and land in the Midwest where you wanna visit Bonito (state of Mato Grosso) and Brasília (our capital). Going back to the Southeast to finish your loop on the country, you can spend some time in my state, Minas Gerais. It’s where you’re gonna find the best food in the country and lots of charming historic towns. In Minas, must-go’s are Ouro Preto and Capitólio. After all these places, you’ll have truly experienced our culture in its finest. Google all these places I mentioned to have a taste of what you’re gonna miss if you don’t do all of them haha. You’re still gonna be missing so many nice places but I absolutely can’t wait for y’all to enjoy Brazil and record everything of this journey so we all can have a great time watching these nice adventures of yours in these blessed lands. Hope you have a great time and if you need anything, just comment here and I’ll try my best. Oh one thing, Palmeiras sucks. They don’t have junior cup nor club world cup (LALAIÁLALAIÁLALAIÁ where my Brazilians at? 😂) Flamengo is the best hands down and you can confirm that with your own eyes watching Flamengo plays the Super-cup final on Feb 20th. Cheers guys!

oh this is so nice, you were visiting all the streets and places I'm used to go and pass by almost everyday and your tourist eye, explorers surprises and amazements kinda make me see things from normal day-by-day differently, reminding me these things are special, but the locals sometimes forget it...

One more comment: you should try to make it down to the Sao Paulo coastal beaches of Ubatuba, Caraguatatuba and the island of Ilhabela. You can then take the Costa Verde through Rio de Janeiro state (stop at the colonial town of Paraty if you can) on your way to the city of Rio de Janeiro. THAT is the lush and beautiful Brazil that everyone thinks of when they think of Brazil.

Hi guys! I've been having lots of fun watching you two explore and enjoy my home town -- and seeing it through the eyes of two foreigners. It's a shame I've only got to watch them now, but if you ever come back, there's an amazing Thai restaurant in Liberdade (Thai E-San, try their pad tai and the entree soup with fish broth, chicken, coconut milk and spices for lunch). Also, have a drink on the roof top of Hotel Unique on Biigadeiro Luís Antônio Ave, it's a gorgeous, unexpected architectural landmark and it offers a stunning 360-degree view of the city. Ah, and try the JK and Argentina pizza at Camelo (order a half anf half pizza with these flavors).

Nice that you are enjoying our dear country! Brazil has an incredible culture. Here are several countries within a single one. If you are still in São Paulo, a suggestion in the city and another in the state. For the city of São Paulo visit the Ibirapuera Park and for the state of São Paulo, go to the city of Campos do Jordão, you will love Europe within Brazil. Speak well of our country to the world! Thanks!
