If you look at Rodgers stats he is better than Zach Wilson. 17tda, like 6 ints, jets put up 27 points against colts on offense whereas jets offense under Wilson couldnt score 20 pts. Jets winning 7 games was the defense. That doesn't mean Rodgers is anywhere near what we expected, but reality is Wilson was that bad.

The problem was the jets put themselves into a corner with zach wilson, they sold the image of a team a qb away from the SB and drank the rodgers kool aid. The reality is Wison masked reality, that this is a poor organization and the idea this was a good team was a myth. The o line was bad last ye even before injuries, this yr it hasnt been great, that is on JD and Carter. The defense before and after saleh was not good. Last yr the defense carried the team to 7 wins,this yr it is a mess. Before the year started almost everyone, the analysts, the fans, talk radio talkimg heads, all said a big question mark was the coaching....and they were right. The poor defensive play, the lack of accountability w the sloppy play and penalties, poor game time decisions, were coaching. Hackett as OC, forget it. And then we have zeurlein, who was bad in camp& pre season, who came out bad, and what did jets do? Nothing. Boyer is supposed to be one of the best and he screwed the pooch, likely out of the same player friendly bs that saleh had ( unless he changes, saleh will never get another hc job, nor with his attitude ). One of the reasons AR is getting bashed is when he was signed, when ppl talked about hackett as OC, Salehs bad game mgmt/ being afraid to lose, the culture of no accountability, we heard ' it wont matter, AR will fix that'. Basically ppl were saying he would be the HC,OC all in one ..and no one can be that, i said that before he played a snap. On the other hand Rodgers absolutely has shown little true leadership. Yes, he was on the sidelines after he got hurt and he said the right things to the press, but when it counted he failed. On the sidelines he sits there, he never talks to anyone, never encourages or chastises. Saleh sat there on the sidelines like a stone buddah, snd rodgers never got on him ( and we know he had the power to do that, fortunately or infortunately). Ever watch Brady when he played? Or watch Mahommes? They are in the middle of it. Rodgers wants the adulation but he doesnt want the responsibility. On a poorly coached team with no accountability, that left a vacuum. Ultimately it comes down to Woody bc he made clear that Rodgers was the god ( of ticket sales; my bet? Next year is rodgers 3.0, going around again, with the excuse that the coaching was bad, rodgers was not 100% and the gm left too many holes,w new coaches, right players from new gm, jets gonna fly, so buy my newly inflated by 35% tickets. Note, woody is dumb enough to think ppl will fall for that again. Suprised he isnt charging for training camp). For the fun of it I did a two card tarot pull about the jets next year, it showed no change in the team and disorganized mess as the outcome. Given that rodgers has a 49m dollar cap hit if they cut him or he retires, that is going to motivate woody too since he is cheap ( though I don't buy last year that he refused to pay for a backup, that was Woody's obsession with Zach Wilson). Will woody get it right? Doubtful, 3 to 1 against . My gut tells me it will be mccarthy, at which point the Jets will be a peripheral thing after 56 years until he is gone.

Rodgers hasnt been particularly good. He’s not mobile anymore, he’s either hurt or he’s gun shy and that’s made him scared to throw deep, he’s had problems getting on the same page with every WR but Lazard… and even in saying that he’s not the reason the Jets are 3-8. Zeurlein cost the Jets 3 games and the defense is an undisciplined, poorly coached disaster.
