Awesome! I remove the duck bill one way valve on my skis. When I first ran the new style pump with the one way valve, I was having cavitation problems and my bilge would fill with water. This was happening I believe because I run the bilge pump on the whole time. When there is no water to pump, I think the pump creates an air pressure which doesn’t allow water to flow into the pump, to get pumped out (cavitation). If I simply turned the pump off, let the water settle in the pump (when my bilge had water filled above the pump) , then turned it back on, it would all get pumped out. I removed the one way valve after realizing this, and never have a problem with this now. Hopefully that makes sense. Sweet video! Keep them coming🤘🏻

Yes! Forgot to mention I remove that piece! The flow rate is much higher without the rubber one way piece installed. And I think in our applications it’s best to remove it just like you said! I didn’t even realize the extra benefit of avoiding cavitation! Great point! Thank you for the comment!

@@RSKI Thanks for the feedback! My question tough, was if one is able to mount bracket and pumps with the motor in the hull? Is there enough room to work? Thanks in advance.
@RSKI
@RSKI Жыл бұрын
There might be enough room, but we always do it with the engine out just because we usually have it out anyway when we’re installing new bilge pumps.

Thanks man! I have two tpu plugs on that ski. One for the extra bilge outlet and the other is for the hole in the dash where the fuel selector was. Mine went bad so I just took it out.

Excellent info if only this info was out last year when I was rebuilding my Superjet and wanted to install the oem bilge and couldn’t find pics on how it was routed I did the same as you and made my own hoses with an elbow but I used an elbow from a couch’s bilge system that had a duck bill inside , through trying and error I finally got the right length of tube to make it work properly. The ski came with two rules but I wanted one rule and also the oem which seems to be the predict combo for me right now.

I have an old 80's ski that I have to buy a new bilge pump for as the one that was in it died last summer. Is the new pump automatic? The old ski had a water witch switch or something in it. Old school stuff. Thanks for posting the video.
@RSKI
@RSKI Ай бұрын
They do make automatic ones, but we typically don’t recommend them because in the wrong conditions it can drain your battery. Sometimes simple is best. No school like the old school.

How would you go about grounding dual bilge pumps without oem? I have a MSD total loss, do I have to ground each pump individually to the battery or can they both be grounded to the negative terminal on the MSD starter relay?
@RSKI
@RSKI 2 жыл бұрын
We ground our bilges inside the ebox. This eliminates extra wires needing to be attached to the battery and keeps everything cleaner. Don’t forget a fuse! 😄

the new rule bilge pumps have wicking protection between the cores of the cable so now you can't get water travelling up the strands which is nice

Can you explain or better yet show how the pump is wired inside the ebox? I've read OCD'S instructions, but it sounds like you might have to eliminate the temp sensor.
@RSKI
@RSKI Ай бұрын
Yes that is correct. The ocd tidy bilge harness replaces the temp sensor and ebox grommet with a new harness and grommet and makes connections to power and ground inside the ebox for your bilge pump(s).

Do you guys run the stock head temp sensors? I just installed an ADA head and there is no spot for this sensor. I read somewhere that some people just disconnect it and use the wiring for it to power the bilge pump.
@RSKI
@RSKI 3 жыл бұрын
We do not use the temp sensor. We simply disconnect the wires and do not use them at all. This leaves ebox grommet for the temp sensor un-used and we repurpose this grommet to get power and ground from inside the ebox for our bilge pumps. To do this you will need to open the ebox and add the necessary wires for the bilge pumps.

did you know where u can connect a ignition on Pos wire to float switch type pump on waverunner ? This way its always on while riding but only pumping when water hits float
@RSKI
@RSKI 2 жыл бұрын
We just run the bilges the entire time we ride in the surf and turn them off when we hit slide up on the beach. There’s probably not enough space for the float in our skis and it would get bounced around in the surf so much I wouldn’t trust the float. Those are best for boats in my experience.

I’m wondering if it’s possible to fit the new bilge hose into the same line as the stock syphon? So you don’t have to add another hole in the hull?
@RSKI
@RSKI Жыл бұрын
Hi Max, no that’s not possible.
@tbbz
@tbbz Жыл бұрын
@@RSKIand why is it not possible?
@RSKI
@RSKI Жыл бұрын
Because the oem siphon is a siphon. If you break the hose then you break the siphon. Also the oem siphon has a tiny diameter, the flow would be much less than a dedicated bilge outlet. There’s no reason to link the bilge to the siphon, the better option is to have them separate so they are redundant rather than a single point of failure. Linking them together is not a good idea.
@RSKI
@RSKI Жыл бұрын
There’s also no downside to drilling a bilge hole in your hull. Just put it in the proper location near to the firewall and as high as possible making sure there is enough room to install and tighten the nut on the bilge fitting.
