@@JetSkiBrothers BTW, you ever use any resin thickeners for filling voids and tight radiuses before the mat is laid? We used to mix up a sort of gel and fill a corner or 90 degree so it would add support where the mat doesn't want to lay. Some people want to over wet the mat to make it fit into a tight corner which isn't the best idea. Just a thought.

Hey Mate, Just a tip, i sell epoxy resin for the last 20yrs, Once the resin is tack free you have a 24hr window to get the next layer on and still maintain the chemical bond. Meaning you can do a stack of layers without having to sand between each layer. Good to see this bad boy coming back. Proudly rocking my JSB tshirt while riding this weekend!! Cheers from Australia!!

I love the drive shaft hole / tube repair idea... that is exactly what I would have done !! Gotta love when a plan works out. Man, watching that repair, I had a huge smile on my face ! I love the way you cut the cloth out using a pattern.... that is going to to crazy strong !! Also, the home made black gelcoat. I'm not sure if people will complain, but I have no complaints. It's going to be bulletproof and get the job done 🤟
@JetSkiBrothers3 жыл бұрын
I am not going to lie, when I was figuring out how to fix the drive shaft tube my thought process was wwjd. What would Joel do, he seems like he knows what he is doing 👌👍 the black gel coat as you say was more a fairing compound but I figured it might as well be black. Looking back I kinda wish I had dyed all of the epoxy black so all of the fiberglass would have been darker. Oh well next time 😂🍻👍
@JoelArseneaultYouTube3 жыл бұрын
@@JetSkiBrothers I'm glad I inspired you in some way. I'm glad that you only took some inspiration from me, or this would be a 6 part series on that one repair, lol. Kidding, but I do go overboard and spend way too much time on stuff. I noticed that you used fairing compound or some sort of thickener at some of the tighter bends (I think) and I was like "YES" haha. I'm not sure I even fully understand how that area broke and how it gets forces under power ... or did it just fail from broken parts hitting it ? The reason I ask is that the majority of the forces would be on the motor mount area and directly where the pump mounts to the hull... I would assume. I noticed that you are using total boat epoxy, wondering if you got your fibreglass from there as well or elsewhere ?
@AtimatikArmy3 жыл бұрын
@@JoelArseneaultKZbin Joel is definitely the master, but I was pretty impressed by Josh's repair also. That's tricky thing to repair as there is a lot of horsepower going through that point not to mention the pump suction happening there as well!
@JetSkiBrothers3 жыл бұрын
@@JoelArseneaultKZbin this video was made over the course of 3 weeks, so it did take a long time haha. On the tight spots I was using a combination of resin silica and chopped fiberglass to make a sort of…………. I don’t even know what it’s called but yeah. The area on the tunnel that broke was caused by the stuff braking apart and smashing into it plus I am pretty sure when it all broke lose the drive shaft was forced into contact with it as well. Now as far as the reinforcement goes that is mainly for keeping the tunnel strong so it can withstand the higher water pressures that it’s going to be seeing. On some skis they can crack from the water pressure being too high when you start going faster and since this thing is probably gonna end up going really fast I figure better reinforce it. Haha and as far as the fiberglass I was just getting that from somewheres on Amazon I just can’t remember I don’t think it was from the total boat store
