Interesting side note on Phonsey Mullen. He always runs an oxygen tank in his boat so that he has air if they should capsize and end in the water. On his first visit to New Zealand he decided to strip it out as unnecessary weight after an incident at Wanganui with the 2 abreast boat and the occupants.
