Flight crew do a typical initial training of 3-6 weeks which includes all duties (in-flight service, customer service, basic medical first air etc.) and yes, safety training but let's not exaggerate 'safety role' they have. In an emergency, which is very rare, it's passengers' common sense and cooperation that will save lives more than anything else. What few courses seem to cover, I'm guessing, is de-escalation strategies - some crew seem to exacerbate on-board situations and would rather assert their authority and cause an escalation (some, not all, but I've seen it quite a few times). Even something as simple as rudely berating to a customer who needs the bathroom after the seatbelt light has been inexplicably on for 2 hours. They are passengers, not prisoners.

Anytime anyone comments something negative directed at you, it's a reflection of themselves and actually has nothing to do with you. You give them power when you allow it to offend you. I know this is a lot easier said than actually done, but it can be a helpful tool when you're inevitably in that situation again. ❤️

The last thing I want these days is one of the better cabin crew members croak on the phone with the manager on duty telling them they are either tired or potentially sick and need to be called off on what was a big day for them. On the other hand, I also feel sorry for the line management team in particular since I am sure a combination of an airport and route management job right now is the pits for even the most experienced of crew members.

Julia - 109K, Trolls - 0! Thank you for sharing your authentic self in all of your joy and sadness at times. We all have a career that has been affected for nearly two years now on this rollercoaster ride called COVID. As I myself have been up and down, in person and remote, alone in the office separated from co-workers that once made my job a joy to walk into everyday and share stories and broad smiles. It has been creatives like yourself, your channel and others that have kept me going in uncertain times. I do not fly a lot, but when I traveled this past year to my dear cousin's funeral, it helped me appreciated your effort and sacrifice all the more. I also find simple fascination, even in 2022, that it is possible to fly across the country from coast to coast and be back in time for dinner. Hi, Julia! I am not a subscriber but I do watch some of your videos and this time I could not resist posting a comment on something you said. I am referring to the mean remark that the flight attendant is a waitress. Well, you certainly know that, but I will say it: Those are comments from unhappy or envious people, which you should completely ignore. I work in a totally different field, but I fly a lot and for me the flight attendant is a person who cares about the safety of all passengers onboard, he/she should be stress resistant, a great communicator, very disciplined and punctual, service oriented and much more,. I believe that currently I do have a good life: I am thankfully relatively healthy, I enjoy my job, I am suurounded by nice people, I enjoy interesting travels, nice books and movies etc. I do not need to post mean comments to anyone, but I feel sorry for people who do.

There are 3 reasons everyone survived the “Miracle on the Hudson” flight: 1) Outstanding piloting skills by Sully and Jeff Skiles; 2) Outstanding flight attendants who quickly evacuated the passengers onto the wings and forward cabin doors’ life rafts since the plane was sinking; and lastly, 3) Air Traffic Control alerted the Port Authority and the Port Authority launched ferries on a rescue mission. Your job is passenger safety, first and foremost, and as we saw in the “Miracle on the Hudson” incident, flight attendants are crucial to passenger survival in a disaster. I love your channel’s content. Hang in there.

It has always been my opinion that what we call “social media” is actually anti-social. It amazes me on FB and Twitter how much negativity there is. Further your videos are always so upbeat so why anyone would demean you is just mind blowing. And that comment about “being a waitress” must have been made by someone who has never flown b4. Personally having flown thousands of miles, especially long haul flights to Europe and Japan, it truly amazes me how flight attendants manage to deal with such a long day. We, the passengers, get to sleep but FAs for the most part work a really long day. And while serving drinks and food is the outward manifestation of their job, it is the safety and security of every passenger that is the fundamental reason for their being. I have flown over 4 million miles in the past 35 years to over 40 countries. I wish I had met you on a flight because you are so delightful. Anyone who thinks you are a flying waitress is an idiot. Cabin crews are probably some of the most exotic and passionate workers around. I dearly respect not only these 13 or 14 hour duty days with long "sits" in between but also scheduling 6 hour "on call" sits at the home base in case you need to get hit for dealing with a flight that is not fully crewed but perhaps never get called. I wish that you could be a Portugese or Spanish speaker but that's not entirely responsible. One of the unsung reasons is of course if your carrier has scheduled cargo to fly on your flight in the cargo hold. That is always the best for me being in the warehouse industry. Thank you for your hard work always and I am sorry you feel you need to vent at people who hate you for your work.

I think you're beautiful inside and out and your life is fascinating to me. I've been binge watching your videos, I just discovered you a week ago. I've toyed with the idea of becoming a fight attendant myself but my life is pretty grounded with my kids/husband, my cleaning business and my airbnb. Plus I live in a small town. Anyways, I adore your attitude and your content is amazing. Anyone who thinks otherwise can kick rocks.

Julia, you are beautiful young lady. The people that respond with hurtful or mean remarks are just jealous of you. Remember, some people are just mean or spiteful because it gives them satisfaction. I have had a few moles and “beauty marks” taken of my face also for health and safety since as you get older some could turn cancerous or cause other issues late in life. YOU are a great role model for many, ignore the jealous ones and those with wrapped personalities making any negative remarks. Many have had terrible childhoods & home life and use the media to retaliate in one form or another. With over 20 years of military active duty and many deployments and another 20 with the airlines, I have seen many of these characters and some finally grow and some never will. You are and have what many wish for, a true compass to a happy & healthy life 😊❤️

Hi Julia, I’ve also had moles removed that were raised & one thing I wish I’d known when I started was that you can just level the mole instead of actually having it completely cut out (which involves going into the skin, an incision, stitches, etc.). The leveling is super quick, and the healing is soo much faster. I would ask about that option if it’s something that appeals to you. I had ones removed on the neck & collarbone with no scarring, no mark, nothing left behind.
