Is the end of the pier the best place to view launches and landings?

I think that's a jetty instead of a pier. We lived on Merritt Island back in the 70s. My father was a NASA engineer. We watched a few launches from the beach next to the jetty. Could see just fine. Night launches were amazing.I don't miss those sand spurs though haha.
