Me and my friends played the first game since day one for about a week, took a couple days off from the game and when we came back it was like everyone were pro players, couldn’t compete at all, everyone was so much better.

I played that game religiously and I can tell you the main reason that happened is because the game was constantly bleeding casual players so the majority of players left after the first few weeks were the best players cause they’re the only ones genuinely enjoying the game every average or below player either quit or barely played atp

Since day-one on console or PC? Because if it's console, you probably just came back after they implemented cross-play. If it was PC, then it was probably because the game didn't have much growth for its first few years, leading up to the console launch.

Gears 3 had multiple round TDM and the mode itself was unique as teams shared a pool of revives instead of "whichever team gets x kills first wins" You'd have situations where you have 3 people left alive with no more respawns going up against a full team with 2-3 respawns to spare. Amazing clutch moments were possible

Absolutely seems like an improvement in almost every single way. At the same time, seeing those devs FLY through the map, gives me the same feeling as the first game. I just don't have the time or care to get that good. Don't nerf it, don't kill the game, but add a no portals gamemode. Sounds fucking stupid I know, but so did No Build on Fortnite, and on any given day those two modes both have 250K concurrent players. Give the player the opportunity to play how they want without choosing to not play the game itself. Let people who put the time in continue to stomp, and give people who still like the gunplay, maps etc a chance to play more casually. We CAN have both.

The portalling mechanics aren't that difficult to learn, and come naturally over time, while playing the game. The no portals mode in SG1, was the devs effectively killing their game to appease a more casual audience. No portals mode means there will be little to no inspection with the portalling and non portalling players, and the non-portal players will have a fundamentally different understanding of the game and how maps work; it segregates the playerbase. So instead, here's a thought, if you don't want to use the mechanics the game is known for, then don't play the game. Fortnite isn't a good comparison either, as that started life as a co-op pve shooter. Everything, including building, was added on in interactions over time; it's identity and gameplay was never built around the building mechanics, like the portalling mechanics are in Splitgate.

Titanfall never got off the ground because it didn't give you a reason to come back, there was nothing to grind for and no competetive, and the game had virtually 0 way of generating revenue, so as a live service game it just fell over.

Splitgate was a niche idea executed with no fluff on top. Adding classes, abilities and loadouts muddies things up and makes them more complex, which is a weird direction to go for a game that already felt hard to keep up with at times. I feel like this might drive even more people away when they first try it, and it could lead to core mechanics getting simplified and deemphasised over time to make the game more approachable - but then the existing audience becomes unhappy.

@@sagynagy7322 I agree for the most part but, old cods are hard to play on console because there's not many people playing the games anymore and unlike pc you can't play the upcoming remaster. But Xdefiant is the closest thing console players have to a classic cod-like game with a large current amount of players active. So about what you said "what's the point if everything is unlocked except 5 camos" I agree, there's not a lot of content and the maps aren't all that great either, but for most of the console players that's the best they've got right now and instead of players saying "I don't like it it sucks" I think more people should send actual quality feedback so we can take this rare opportunity where we have a game without sbmm and with listening devs, and support them in molding this game into something greater for everyone to enjoy. Sorry about rambling on 😅

One thing that I felt was really under appreciated in the first one were the courses you could do with each map. Instead of sweating, trying to be the best in ranked, they also had a time trial mode, for all the actual portal lovers. Really hope they bring that back

A lot of people who haven't played and only seen trailers said the strong points and weapon pickups seemed to be entirely gone, but here I saw they were definitely still there. Seems that what you spawn with is all the weaker weapons. Basically, no more carbine/pistol only, you can absolutely choose different things to mix up your starting point.

I loved the first splitgame. it was a niche game where mostly the skilled players who took time to learn the mechanics played consistently which gave the game for us tryhards a good comp in casual modes. i cant wait for splitgate2 to be released to the general public!! ^_^

I love the choice to start with 3 the classes. Stick to rock+paper+scissors for initial balencing. It means that all 3 have to be pretty much perfectly equal, but it makes achiving that process simple. Imo I hope they never add another class, but either was Im excited to see how this pans out.

i think the absolute main thing they did that’ll help the game is hired genuine level designers, before they had so many angles to be worried about and against a good player they can just control like 80% of most maps, now due to design and generally less walls to portal off of, your focus can be more streamlined and generally lowers the skill floor at low level play (but ability’s increase its skill ceiling, definitely feels like a good pt2 of a game, unlike overwatch)
