Info because I actually know this: animated shows and movies tend to record the voice actors speaking their lines first, and then animating it to get good character actions and reactions to dialogue. Voice actor read the script, can give out different intonations, and the studio can decide which one they want to use. Sources: various DVDs with special features, and many documentaries. I can name monsters Inc and the cat returns off the top of my head
