The roots of the tree is dead people. You can see them in dungeons. That really good shot of Marika holding up the strands could be her creating the erdtree

The roots 'feed' off the dead. That's the whole thing with erdtree burials, the dungeons / catacombs are where they are because there are roots to put bodies on. The erdtree being made from the dead could explain why the erdtree needs to continue feeding off the dead.

@@KTheStruggler it would also explain why Miquella is venturing into the Shadows. He attempted to grow his own Erdtree using his own blood, to no avail. That’s why he’s going to the Shadows, he’s trying to find out what exactly Marika did to birth an Erdtree into a new Era. He knows blood is important for Erdtree growth, but I suppose he’ll be in for a surprise after finding out to what extent of lengths he’d have to go through to actually birth a new age. Bottom line is: Blood sacrifice is used, in differing ways, in the game to signify a relationship to the growing of Trees and Eras (also in ASOIAF)

I feel like it’s not bad to assume that maybe the dlc area existed along with the lands between that we have known the entire time, almost like a stranger things upside down, while the war was happening on the bottom (the dark) and as miquella was doing the thing with the strands it was bleeding into the lands between (the light) and that’s how we got the grace towers we see in the trailer plus the actual sites of grace in the game. Potentially after that war miquella used the lands between to sort of restart the world for the golden order since they had lost the war to messmer. Idk maybe I’m just yappin

It could be the gloam eyed queen she is pulling grace from as the Queen was an Imperian. And then using that she forms her rune and creates the erdtree from the bodies of the dead. which throughout the game we went to the 2 fingers at the top of the towers to actually activate the rune from a defeated boss. That much is clear but it still doesn’t explain Miquella coming here. And seemingly by choice. As mohg taking miquella and miquella choosing to come to the land of shadow seem to contradict each other.

That first shot looks like the entrance to the erdtree to fight radagon. It would make sense since when we burn the erdtree it turns red. I don’t think it’s the flames but I think it’s revealing what it truly is.

She could be pulling out the idea of death itself and repurposing it to where souls are no longer sent to wherever but to the erdtree as we know happens now. The place she does it in also looks like it’d be the same as the erdtree sanctuary since it has a similar opening to it as the arena. Maybe all the dark area that was behind her all got closed off (to our eyes) with the tree being formed

I just realized look at the "foot of the erdtree" the bodies are shaped like a tree but also on the left side a "foot", Melina said "I was born at the foot of the erdtree" the cloth looks like the godskin cloth and they served the Gloam eyed Queen...maybe that literally is Melina in the cloth it makes sense now as to who the mother if maybe its Marika or perhaps the mother is Gloam eyed Queen and Radagon is her father which is still Marika

I’m thinking miquella is attempting to eradicate the golden order included the shadow erdtree to free the lands between. I think he also wants to remove all outer gods and to become one himself. He removed his empereyan status but I think he’s aiming for something higher. We also know Marika never really wanted this or we would’ve never got the original game.

The sites of grace bear a very similar rune to Malenia's great rune. They are siblings so I guess it is fitting. It makes sense to have these in the land of shadows, the land devoid of all grace. We're gonna technically be following Miquella's footsteps by following the sites of grace which he created. Possibly helping him become the new "Marika" Like he promised to Malenia.

I have a theory, as we can speculate, but i think the gloom eye queen and marika were allies, because is the gloom eye queen the queen of god skin peelers, i believe gloom queen did the true dirty job of getting the bodies and taking the skin out for some reason. And then gloom was betrayed by marika, hence why we see a woman in her knees in the middle of the war, a war created by Mesmer and commanded by Marika. We can also see that in the game, marika took the death rune away, and thus having the gloom eye queen powerless. This is the betrayal i think they are talking about.

I have a theory. In the trailer it says "will you walk with us?" to me that seems like there is a choice to side with Miquella or not. If we don't side with Miquella then we would assumedly side with Messmer. In Sekiro there is two endings one where you side with Kuro and keep him safe and one where you don't. It would be cool if when we decide to side with Messmer we would fight Miquella and if we side with Miquella we fight Messmer.

What if when Melina said she was born at the foot of the Erdtree she actuality meant the Erdtree in the shadow lands...the birth of the Erdtree itself, and thats why she has no body as shes not from the lands between. What if Melina is plucked out of the womb in the intro or is the result of whatever happened there and the womb is the Gloem Eyed Queen, thus instead of being the suspected daughter of Marika she is the daughter of the gloem eyed queen. What if the gloem eyed queen is the pregnent women in the painting and thats why Melina is gloem eyed in one of the endings. What if Melina burning the Erdree ia not the will of Marika but rather her true mother the gloem eyed queen. What if Messmir is not Marikas long lost son but hes rather Radagons brother as hes hair is also red, how would he be the son of Marika if Radgon wasnt in it the picture yet if all of this happened way before the events of the land between and it would make sense that Radagon was a separate being and maybe got punished alongside Marika by the Outer God by being fused ( Adam and Eve?) or what else explains the red hair. Now why would Messier destroy hes own kingdom well the story trailer does speak of betrayal but betrayal from who? So could Messmir, Melina and Radagon be related, i admit Radagon serveing the Order would be hard to explain if hes the son of the Gloem Eyed Queen but what if.
