He's likely an early boss since From rarely, if at all, shows off the final DLC boss in their DLC trailers.

From the tradition of the past dlc trailers. I think the lion dance boss is gonna be the real first boss. They showed him first and story wise and strenght wise, I think it wouldn't be logical for Messmer to be the very first boss in the dlc. Plus they said there's gonna be a powerscaling similar to sekiro, so imagine they nerf us to some extent and put us right against him, we get clapped because we're basically lvl1 in the shadow lands and later Messmer is more like the equivalent to lady Maria when we get back our strenght, perhaps guarding the gate to the final area. But he's most definitely NOT the final boss. The music we hear is tho. They have ALWAYS used their final boss theme in trailers with the sole exception being Ludwig's theme since his theme was by far the most powerful

It has already been confirmed in an interview that this is not in the past or in the future, the shadow lands are a place that was once physically connected with the lands between but was separated for lore reasons that we will discover during the DLC. so goodbye world of the dead theories or miquella's dream, miyazaki said that the veil in the sky would be a representation of Marika hiding the shadow lands from the rest of the world. it was pointed out by some people seeing the throne that Messmer sits on that it is a throne identical to the thrones of the demigods in Lyendell and Miyazaki said that Messmer also sat next to the other demigods as an equal, remember that old theory that the three butterflies of the game represented the children of Marika and Radagon? Now we know who the fire butterfly represented

Yes, but I think it's a similar concept to Bloodborne dlc, which is really neat because it isn't the past. It's a dream. But it's also a dream/prison realm that relates to the past, and figures from the past. Considering this DLC is where Marika first stepped foot, and Miquella is following in her footsteps, the idea of elements of the past being in the present is very much there for us to infer

That same girl was shown in an Elden Ring's previous Trailer (I don't remember which one), and she was using a Flower Spell (that didn't came to the game in the final version). So I guess this is not Roderika. Sorry for the bad english, hope you can understand.

In an interview, Miyazaki did say that Messmer the Impaler (the redhead in the trailer) is a child of Marika, so you are basically correct!

I've posed this question to a few other ER lore channels, but do you think we'll get any Gloam Eyed Queen info in this DLC? My working theory is that assuming we're following Marika's rise to godhood, that should include her/Maliketh's defeat of the Gloam Eyed Queen and I think Marika's manipulation of the Elden Ring by taking out the Rune of Death is what caused the area that is the shadow lands today to be removed from the Lands Between and everyone who was there to be trapped including the Gloam Eyed Queen. And when we get there in game is hundreds of years after all that stuff happened.

@@Wraff oh definitely like Ringed City, no one saw all that coming. I'm fully prepared to be wrong and I'm good with that. I'm just tryna guess at stuff we didn't see in the trailer but might be there regardless cuz Fromsoft aren't gonna show us everything. Miyazaki even said there's a hidden boss on par with Malenia and idk if it's Messmer...like Lady Maria was on the cover of Old Hunters but Orphan was the real challenge.

Call me crazy, but I can't shake the feeling that she sounds different for some reason. Not at all saying it's bad or good or anything like that... I just have this uncanny valley feeling like I'm hearing her pitched lower than usual, deeper or SOMETHING. As an AV/production guy, this is purely "am I tweaking or is anyone else noticing it too?" -- odd observations aside, I'm a fan and have nothing but appreciation for your content & enthusiasm. Since there are countless references to the Berserk manga and that Miquella is compared to Griffith, I wouldn't be surprised that Miquella and Messmer are the same person (just like Godfrey is actually Hoara Loux). Since Miquella is inside an egg in the Mogh arena (the long arm we have to touch to get in the dlc looks like Messmer's arms), just like Griffit when he morphs to Femto, maybe Miquella will already be in the egg and our presence will wake him up in the form of Messmer... And when we'll have beaten Messmer, Miquella's arm will have disappeared from the Mohg arena.
