Great location, great attitude and great story! I could really empathize with the frustration and elation of this experience. Also appreciate that this was more of a story about the testing a pre-release product than it was a definitive review of a drone. Inspirational. Did a solo trip to Alaska from the UK back in 2010 with just a 4 x 4 for a home and a mountain bike for exploring, on a month long road trip through the wilderness. Up to now, the most life affirming experience of my life. To have had a drone at the time would have been the icing on the cake, but now I have one I guess it's time to plan the return trip. Thank you for this inspiring story, because this was more than just a video. My first response when the M3 didn’t work was, DJI rushed this drone to the public and other thoughts… but, as I watched the rest of your story in Alaska my thoughts changed as you explained how it would’ve been easy to get mad at DJI, the drone and lost footage. It wasn’t about the bad. It was about taking in what you HAD and being grateful for the experience. Side note: I don’t think people know how much time and money these take to produce. Well done to the both of you!

Great video! one of the best so far! Congrats for being able to manage the frustration and to turn unfortunate episodes into something so exciting and attention gripping. I loved the shot where it seems like you are remote controlling the chopper!! :-) also I have to say that the shots taken by the camera mounted on the rear rotor of the chopper are the sickest...You know what I think I loved most? The rithm, i mean the editing is fantastic.

6:35 Flipping an operating drone upside down seems non-optimum. I catch mine and just hold down the throttle for a few seconds and it stops. Because of gyroscopic action, flipping the drone is certainly going to put a strong sideways load on the motor bearings and mounting screws, a load that it is not expecting and probably not designed for. The views of the fjord and mountains are *glorious* ! Nicely done.

Awesome video footage and wish I could also visit there flying too. It sure seemed like an adventure. 13:58 you introduced the heli pilot. Helli Pilot-in-command normally sits on right side. So was she a student pilot clocking flight hours? Share the aviation services details so one day I can tick my bucket list off flying my Mavic there too.

Views of Turnagain Arm are always beautiful. Yikes on the firmware update and the drone. You got lucky with that sunny weather in Whittier and PWS. Wow, great weather in Valdez on the same trip?! You don't know how lucky you were. That are usually cloudy, dreary, and rainy with low visibility of the mountain peaks.

Tip: When you catch the drone by hand and it tries to spool up, lift it up while you hold the stick down. Its trying to avoid an obstacle (your hand) and it stops fighting once you raise it a foot or so with stick down.

Or just turn it sideways and it cuts the motors immediately. Safety feature.

I just hold throttle down for a few seconds. It auto-lands right in my hand but of course I also have a grip on it.
