Today is day 20 with a mini 4 pro. I almost exclusively use hand launch and catch. I might have launched and landed on the ground twice ever. Keep the wind at your back, no nearby obstacles and hold/ catch it nice and high over your head to reduce the risk. A lanyard for your controller is highly recommend. Downward avoidance will make the drone hesitate to land in your hand but keep holding the down button until it starts landing. You can flick the switch to sport mode and it will land in your hand much sooner. But if you forget to switch it back, you increase your risk of crashing because OA will still be turned off.

The no side sensors bit me a couple weeks ago. I was doing a project for my father-in-law, had been watching the drone to make sure I was good, then took my eyes off it and crashed into some trees. Definitely put too much faith in trusting what the camera could see and regret having to spend that $450 to get a new Mini 2. Great video!

Consider not using your thumbs on the "thumb sticks". You'll have a lot more control if you use your thumb and index finger. (I'm new to drones but have some experience in RC aircraft.) You have to train yourself not to park your thumbs on the tops of the sticks, but it will be worth it in the end.

Such a great video. Im so very new at this and was looking at drones when a former college of mine turned out to be a drone enthusiast. He gave me his old drone for free and it is a DGI Mini 2. coulple things he left out telling me though was one you need a license (No problem as a precaution i did my own research first (UK) and sorted that and two the drone will not work in certain areas. This is a great safety feature, as though I had no intention of flying it high it could have still been a disaster. Defiantly do your research on the legal side first. Im yet to fly my drone but this July that's going to be my first flght. Can't wait

HiJeven & Jake. I really like your videos! I am a really amateur in flying drones and try to improve my skills and your videos already helped me a lot to have an eye on certain things. But I also found out a few things noone is really talking about: - the drone is setting its height relative to the home point. So when flying low over the ground and you want to follow someone up or down a hill you'll face the drone "changing" its height. But it's rather because the height of the object changes. Also, e.g. flying up the hill, object avoidance steers the drone being 0.5 m above the ground. But when flying back, you'll remark that your drone is higher than before (of course). To keep those things in mind is quite hard in addition to all the other things :-) - marking an object changes the flight behaviour of your drone completely as you can't turn the drone away from the marked object. One must always keep in mind to switch the object marking off when you want to fly "as usual". - when marking an object to follow and you want to do the "circle" movement, in my opinion the drone really behaves strange as it does a spiral rather than a circle. How to avoid that? - to really learn flying, you need a project. Basic movements training is absolute necessary (square, circle and so on), but without a project, I think you're gonna get stuck in your improvements.

Hi, I have a question, maybe it's not possible cause I can't seem to find the answer in the manuals or online. Is there a way to factory reset the drone itself? I have the one with the DJI RC controller. Everybody shows how to reset the controller but not the drone. Or is there a way to downgrade the firmware on the drone? Thanks for your help.

Its very frustrating because I can see on the display the focus is not on the point anymore where I want to be the focus is.

Another thing to keep in mind th@ I never see in tutorials th@ needs to be kept in mind is “prop wash” which is the disturbed mass of air or pushed aft (or fore when in reverse) by the propellers of an aircraft. In laymen’s terms, if your craft comes to close to a wall/building, the wind created by the thrust of the propellers can actually suck your drone INTO said wall. I had to learn this the HARD WAY but fortunately I wasn’t up high enough to damage anything but my propellers & Ego. I noticed it a couple times before I wrecked but thought nothing of it & figured it was just a quirk in my drone. It wasn’t until AFTER my wreck th@ I decided to look into it & discovered “prop wash” was a THING. 🤦🏾♂️💯

Hi Jevan, love this channel. I'm a newbie to drones and video though not to photography. I would love a tutorial on shooting landscape with manual and using 10 bit (not the editing just the shooting). How do you deal with say gradually rising up a hillside with the bright sky becoming a larger and larger part of the image. How do you deal with focus as you traverse a landscape where the optimal focal distance might change and you want to keep to the same shot. If you tap in the centre that creates the jerky footage we would like to avoid. Feels to me like it would be good to be able to set certain things on auto (focus for example, and sometimes shutter speed) but to be able to keep other things on manual but I guess you can't. Anyway, if you feel others might be interested in this I'd love to watch your answers. Cheers from New Zealand.

Best advice iss following " Line of sight" not only is this law in USA and Canada but it's the proper ethical way to fly. Too many people post these videos of flying out 5km away with their UAVs and making others think its ok. Its not. Lets start getting enthusiast and so called pros to follow the regs.

good video but flying out of line of sight is wrong really because its not as risky as you make out if you loose signal it will return to home and if you loose line of sight you will have onboard camera visuals and also it gives you an indication when its time to return home

I realize that the "Mini 3 Pro" was released BEFORE the "Mini 3", but I find it very frustrating that content creators have titles for their content that do not make the distinction and accurately reference the drove model that they are talking about in their titles and their content. The specifications of the "Mini 3" are not identical to the "Mini 3 Pro" and people who are looking specifically for the non-pro model, like me, are disappointed to be lured into something that describes the content as "Mini 3" when it is actually about the "Mini 3 Pro". Details matter.
