I made this jewelry box from walnut and maple.

I had a little more difficulty using the xTool P2 compared to the hammerhead shark sculpture (see previous video). I did quite a few test cuts with walnut scraps and the result was great! But, when I started with the one intended for the box (from a different tree), none of the cuts was going through. I had to flip the boards and do my best to line up the cuts again. It was very tedious, but it worked.
I suppose that not all woods, even those of the same species, are equal in terms of their ability to be laser cut. The maple I used was perfect, very clean cuts but who knows what it would be like with a different tree.
So I learned here that I had to do test cuts on the wood for the project and on the entire width of the board (the cuts were very uneven across the grain).
All the same, the crafting possibilities of this machine are awesome. I have found it so useful to create clamping jigs for an even pressure for the leaves glue up.

La bois est vraiment une matière d’une belle noblesse. Comme d’habitude, à chacune de vos vidéos, je regrette de ne pas être du tout manuelle, malgré mes efforts. et un super travail sur le montage de la vidéo également ! Quel plaisir.

Oh Sylvain, every one of your videos is such a treat, thank you for inspiring me to try harder in the workshop and put more effort in. And I agree about the excellent and witty editing - the spinning carving table and the spinning Tormek is a really nice touch! May I ask a question? What is the name of the drilling tool at 10:46? I'd like to have one of those to hold tiny drill bits but don't know what to call it to look for it! Thanks again sir, for a wonderful piece of work all round.
