thxs so much for this. When you were flaring the eyelet manually, could I use a countersink deburring drill bit and a drill press to slowly flare it like you did?( since I don't have your excellent manual skills to make it as even) lol Thx again for the very clear explaination♥☻☺
@DrummerArtificerStudios2 жыл бұрын
The deburring bit might cause too much damage to the tube, you could try a tool for flaring small copper tubing for fridge and water fountain water lines. You can find it in the plumbing section if most hardware stores

@@DrummerArtificerStudios Could you give me a name or a link since I've tried looking for such thing and no dice and because I'm working with tubes that are 3-6mm inner diameter or smaller, all those parts are way too large for it. thx again :) I also wonder if I can put a dabbing punch in the drill press and just very very slowly shape the open end... any thoughts? thx again ♥☻☺

Great! Thank you very much! And if I want to put a tube between both plates around the rivet? Do I do the same with the tube in-between - will it hold well enough? Thank you very much! 🔥
@DrummerArtificerStudios3 жыл бұрын
To use a tube as a spacer between plates with a standard rivet you would do all the steps exactly the same. The tube simply makes it so you are putting a river in a “thicker” piece of metal. For practical purposes it is best for the tube to be just large enough for your river material to slid into it but you are not limited, the tube can be larger. You just run a chance of the spacer moving around on you as you set the rivet. It is also possible to use a tube spacer with the tube rivet. For either you just want to make sure that the spacer cannot pass through the hole drilled for the rivet. I will work on putting together a video for this for better explanation.

Thanks for the info. I am curious about the channel name.....is there a back story to the name? :-)
@DrummerArtificerStudios3 жыл бұрын
There is a back story to it which I am going to do a whole video on in the future. In short without many details, I had a love hate relationship with the Academic Art World and their tendency to look down on Metalsmiths as only being craftsmen and not true Artists.

You can use a larger dapping punch to get the rivet to spread out a little just my 2 cents !

Unless you bring your camera closer we can't see the rivet in the counter sink.
