I am not Jewish, but when I helped a friend prepare for a large Seder, she said the roasted egg was there b/c it was cooked quickly, set next to the fire...and so it was turned brown by the flames. She couldn't find enough brown eggs in bulk for her meal, so we boiled them with tea bags so the shells would be brown. Just thought I'd share the explanation she gave. :)

I wonder why are these elements in the Seder for Pesaj if the Torah only talks about eating the lamb marror and matzah? Um difficult.
